The NFL betting lines in Week 13 show that a handful of games are expected to be very close. That’s good news for bettors looking for value among underdog teams.
Here are the top three NFL underdog bets this week.
Los Angeles Chargers (+3) at Cincinnati Bengals
In Week 13, a critical AFC matchup comes from when the Los Angeles Chargers (+135) play the Cincinnati Bengals (-160). The Chargers took a bad loss on the road last week against the Denver Broncos.
Justin Herbert threw for 303 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also averaged nine yards per rush in addition to Austin Ekeler’s 31 yards on the ground.
Ekeler was much more successful catching the ball. He piled up 68 yards on six receptions with one touchdown.
Still, the Broncos were able to stop the Chargers’ rushing attack. That led to a 28-13 victory in Denver with another strong performance in the fourth quarter.
With three teams now tied for second place in the AFC West, the Chargers will look to redeem themselves this week against the Bengals.
The Chargers are 3-2 ATS as the away team and 2-2 ATS after a loss.
I wouldn’t mind a little risk on the Chargers to cover this week against the Bengals. However, if you’re not comfortable with the Chargers at +2.5, then you could wait and see how the line moves throughout the week.
But I’d even take the Chargers for the money line. I think they should be a dangerous team with their backs against the wall in Week 13.
New York Giants (+3) at Miami Dolphins
As a former die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan, it’s painful to admit this, but I think the New York Giants are among the best NFL underdog bets this week.
They are now 4-7 after winning at home against the Eagles, 13-7. The Eagles had been favored to win that game by more than a field goal.
Instead, the Giants picked off Jalen Hurts three times. The Eagles amassed 208 rushing yards on 33 overall attempts, but New York limited them to only one touchdown.
The Giants are 3-2 ATS on the road and 6-4 ATS as the underdog.
Miami is on a four-game winning streak, including three games at home.
However, I think the Giants can keep this game close. I like their chances to keep Miami out of the end zone, especially with Logan Ryan returning. I believe that they will sneak past the Dolphins with a field goal at the end of the game.
Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers (+3.5)
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been a shaky team this season. Two weeks ago, they nearly staged a miraculous comeback on the road against the Chargers.
Last week, they got romped by the Bengals, 41-10.
Ben Roethlisberger threw for 263 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions last week. Najee Harris only carried the ball eight times for 23 yards.
They’ll need to do much better in Week 13 at home against the Baltimore Ravens (-175).
The Ravens struggled last week against the Browns. Lamar Jackson threw four interceptions in his first game back after his illness. He also ran the ball 17 times.
The Ravens won 16-10, but it wasn’t compelling.
The Steelers (+135) have a chance to capitalize on a big game at home this week. Although they are 1-5 ATS at home, they are 1-0 ATS as the underdog at Heinz Field.
I’d take the +3.5 points on the Steelers this week. I’ll be looking for a close matchup in the AFC North. I think T.J. Watt will come prepared to keep Jackson in the pocket on Sunday.
A significant turnover late in the game could lead the Steelers to a much-needed win at home.
