After graduating from Syracuse University in 2004, Helwani began his multimedia career at HBO Sports before working at a variety of media giants, including Comcast, NBC Sports, FOX Sports, Vox Media, and ESPN, over the last 15 years.

In 2010, he won the first of 10 consecutive MMA Journalist of the Year awards during the World MMA Awards. He’s also been named to several lists of influential figures in MMA, including FIGHT! Magazine’s “Power 20” list, headlined UFC press events, and broke some of the biggest stories in MMA history.
