In Week 6 of the NFL season, the Arizona Cardinals (5-0) will travel to Ohio to take on the Cleveland Browns (3-2). Although the Cardinals are the only team that’s still undefeated, they are slight underdogs for this matchup.
NFL odds for Week 6 have the Cardinals as +3 underdogs.
Let’s take a look at the over-under point total for the Arizona Cardinals.
The First-Place Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals began their 2021 NFL season as the underdog against the Tennessee Titans. In that game, quarterback Kyler Murray threw for 289 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. He also had a rushing touchdown.
The Cardinals won convincingly at Tennessee, 38-13. Since then, Murray has risen as an MVP candidate and beaten the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4 with two touchdown passes while averaging 6.5 yards per rushing attempt.
They beat the Rams, 37-20, one week after the Rams had defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the defending Super Bowl champions. Then, last week, the Cardinals won in a different style, beating the San Francisco 49ers, another divisional opponent, 17-10.
After five games, the Arizona Cardinals have beaten opponents by a double-digit average.
How many points can they score against the Browns?
Cardinals vs. Browns
The Browns suffered a terrible loss last week against the Los Angeles Chargers, 47-42. The Browns’ defense allowed 493 total yards in that game, most of them through the air.
The Chargers converted 27 first downs, went 6-for-13 on third down, and 3-for-3 on fourth down. They controlled the ball for just over 23 minutes and scored 47 points against the Browns, 26 of them coming in the fourth quarter.
The current over-under for the Cardinals vs. Browns has settled at 50, coming down a few points since the line first opened. The Browns have allowed an average of about 23 points per game.
I think the Arizona Cardinals can have an above-average game against the Browns, especially after last week.
The Browns gave up 21 points against the Houston Texans in their home opener in Week 2. Then, they hosted the Chicago Bears in Week 3, winning 26-6.
This week, they won’t be facing a team in transition without a solid identity. While the Cardinals are dealing with injuries, including tight end Maxx Williams, I still think Murray can lead his team through adversity.
The under at 23.5 (-105) and over (-120) at the same amount show that the Cardinals are expected to score around 24 points.
Much like the money line for the Cardinals (+125), I see plenty of value at anything higher than 24 points. Even the over at 26.5 (+130) looks favorable to me.
The Browns weren’t excellent against the ground game last week. They gave up three rushing touchdowns, including one to Chargers’ quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert, a second-year starter, threw for 398 yards and four touchdown passes.
I’m looking for the Cardinals to do something similar against the Browns in Week 6.
Can the Arizona Cardinals Score 30 Points Against the Browns?
Although the Cardinals have averaged about 30 points this year, I don’t see them scoring more than that against the Browns. Murray struggled a bit last week against the 49ers. They are getting a big test in Week 6.
Still, I think they might score around 24-27 points. This might be another one of those games where one of the best teams in the NFL exposes vulnerabilities in the Browns’ defense, much like the Chargers did last week.
