  • The 2026 Barcelona Open begins a three-week run of epic Spanish tennis.
  • The total prize purse for the 2026 Barcelona Open is more than $3.4 million.

Spain is one of the cultural capitals of clay tennis, and so it stands to reason that the spring season enjoys an extended stay on the Iberian Peninsula.

The ATP Tour is split across Europe this week with multiple mid-level tour events. While some players will play the BMW-sponsored Munich Open in Germany, most prefer to get their heels down in Barcelona.

Both tournaments offer roughly equivalent prestige, prize money, and tour points, but Barcelona is closer to next week’s major draw: the Mutua Madrid Open.

Madrid is the fourth ATP 1000 event of the season and features a 96-player main draw for the singles competition. Most players who are healthy and prominent on the men’s tour will be there.

Thus, many of the most popular men’s players on tour today are in Barcelona this week, getting ready for nearly three weeks of Spanish tennis. The excellent 32-player draw includes Carlos Alcaraz, Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka, and several other top-20 players. (As always, BetMGM will have tennis lines for the full main draw.)

Barcelona doesn’t have as lucrative a prize purse as Madrid, but the singles champion will still walk away with more than $600,000 in winnings. Not bad!
