So far, the Los Angeles Rams‘ gamble of giving up two first-round picks, a third-rounder, and quarterback Jared Goff for Matthew Stafford has paid off with a trip to the Super Bowl. But when the Los Angeles Rams acquired Stafford, they had one thing in mind: winning a Super Bowl. Now, they’re one win away from winning the Lombardi Trophy.

BetMGM’s football odds currently list Stafford as the front-runner for Super Bowl MVP, but today I’ll look at some of the Matthew Stafford prop bets.

Stafford by the Numbers

Matthew Stafford has had an excellent season with the Los Angeles Rams. He’s proven that he’s one of the game’s elite quarterbacks. While Stafford led the league in interceptions with 17, he also put up some remarkable offensive numbers.

He finished the year with 4,886 passing yards (287.4 per game) with 41 touchdowns. So far, he’s played well in the playoffs and limited his turnovers. Stafford has averaged an impressive 302 passing yards per game this postseason, with six touchdowns to one interception.

Over 276.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Stafford is playing at an elite level right now, throwing the ball with confidence and piling up yardage along the way. He’s averaged over 300 passing yards in the playoffs so far.

Even a more conservative number of 287.5 (his regular-season average) has him topping this total, so I think it’s worth some action. This season, the Cincinnati Bengals were the 26th ranked defense against the pass and had a 67.1% opponents’ pass completion percentage, which was seventh-worst in the league. If Stafford gets time to throw, I don’t believe he’ll have any issues going over 276.5 yards.

Over 36.5 Passing Attempts (-105)

I believe that if the Rams win this game, they’ll have to do so with their running game. The Bengals have been excellent against the run this season (102.5 yards allowed per game) and shouldn’t have any problem stopping the Rams’ rushing attack, which has been inconsistent, ranking 25th in the league this year.

This postseason, the Rams have already faced two top-10 run defenses in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers. Stafford put the ball in the air in those games 38 and 45 times, respectively.

The only game he had under the 36.5 total in the postseason was in the Wild Card round against the Arizona Cardinals when they opened up a massive early lead and were content to control the clock with their running game.

Will the Matthew Stafford Trade Pay Off?

The Rams’ quarterback has lived up to expectations so far, but can he win one more game to solidify his legacy? These are my two favorite Matthew Stafford prop bets, but there are plenty more to choose from before Super Bowl 56 gets underway.
