Both of these teams have excellent defenses. The Patriots’ defense has been suffocating all year. They’ve allowed 30 or more points just one time this season (against the Cowboys in Week 6).

Meanwhile, Buffalo ranks 2nd in passing yards allowed per game, 6th in rushing yards allowed, and 2nd overall in points allowed. That’s why I like the under in this NFL Monday Night Football matchup.

The Buffalo Bills allowed 41 points to the Indianapolis Colts two weeks ago. The Bills allowed Colts running back Jonathan Taylor to run wild for 185 yards and four touchdowns in that game. The Patriots don’t have a running back of Taylor’s quality on their roster, but they do have the ninth-most rushing yards in the NFL.
The Patriots can score touchdowns on the ground too. They’ve racked up 14 rushing touchdowns this year, good for the seventh-best mark in the NFL. I think the New England Patriots are fully capable of winning this game outright, but it might be wise to play it safe with the spread.
Buffalo is playing at home, and that crowd will be one of the loudest that Mac Jones has experienced in his young NFL career. But, if the Patriots can run the ball, they’ll control the clock and keep the game close while also limiting the impact crowd noise will have on communication at the line of scrimmage.
