Let the betting begin.
In Nevada yesterday, a mystery bettor took a gander at the NFL Super Bowl odds and decided to place a BetMGM wager from their phone to the tune of $2.3 million. This individual decided to skip the prop bets, for now, and go straight for the jugular by taking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3.5.
If it hits, our woman or man of mystery will pocket a cool $2 million.
"This was a bet we were very happy to receive," said Jason Scott, vice president of trading for BetMGM. "BetMGM had previously written several six-figure bets, all on Kansas City, and the public is certainly behind Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. This big Buccaneers bet had helped our book.”
ESPN’s David Purdum is reporting that the wager is the “largest reported bet on Super Bowl LV so far.” He also reports that according to BetMGM spokesperson Elisa Richardson, the gargantuan wager was done via the company’s betting app.
According to the company, here are the most notable bets nine days out from the big game:
- $2.3 million to win $2 million on Buccaneers +3.5
- $180K to win $100K on Chiefs -180
- $115K to win $100K on Chiefs -3.5 (-115)
- $110K to win $100K on Chiefs -3.5 (-110)
As of this writing on January 29, the Chiefs remain a steady 3.5-point favorite with a moneyline hovering around -175. The Bucs’ moneyline is currently +150, and the over-under sits at 56.5 (-110).
