Award recognizes partnership most focused on fan experience improvement
JERSEY CITY, NJ – (October 22, 2021) – BetMGM and Yahoo Sports have been awarded Hashtag Sports Awards’ Most Engaging Sports Betting Partnership. Hashtag Sports, a leading media outlet covering the converging sports and entertainment ecosystem, honored the organizations for their focus on improving the fan experience through the rollout and growth of regulated sports betting across the United States.
In 2019, BetMGM and Yahoo Sports announced an exclusive partnership to establish a sports betting offering for Yahoo Sports, while creating collaborative content experiences. The historic, multi-year partnership was the first of its kind and paved the way for sports betting operators and media companies to create similar partnerships.
The shared nomination for Most Engaging Sports Betting Partnership highlighted the relationship’s infancy and growth through the beginning of 2021 and the pillars that led to its success: content creation, platform integration, and unique player events, promotions, and features. The organizations are focused on providing world-class experiences and, due to their collaboration, innovative thinking, and ability to pivot quickly in times of need, the relationship has exceeded expectations.
Last year, Yahoo Sports referred over 1 million people from its platform to the BetMGM registration portal, more users than any of BetMGM’s partners and affiliates. Also in 2020, BetMGM helped drive readers to consume 80.4M pieces of betting related content on Yahoo platforms.
