The Buffalo Bills committed 12 penalties, allowed four sacks, committed three turnovers, and scored six points as they failed to cover a 16-point spread in a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.

In gifting Urban Meyer one of his two career NFL victories, the Bills became just the fourth team to lose outright in the last decade when favored by at least 15 points.

Three years earlier, Sean McDermott and the Bills were on the other side of a shocking upset.

In Josh Allen’s first career start, it was the Bills who forced three turnovers and allowed six points in a 21-point over the Minnesota Vikings, a 16.5-point favorite. It remains the only game since 2009 in which an underdog of at least 10 points won by at least 21 points.

The Carolina Panthers nearly accomplished that feat in this year’s Week 7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Still, the Panthers’ 18-point win as a 13.5-point underdog was one of the biggest NFL betting upsets of the decade.
