Former IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis will officially make his debut in the junior middleweight division on Oct. 11, as Uisma Lima welcomes him with a fight inside Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Aside from his advantage of fighting in front of his home fans, Ennisโ€™ undefeated record is one of the main reasons why heโ€™s the overwhelming betting favorite with -1430 boxing odds, while Lima, whoโ€™s set to make his US debut, is the heavy betting underdog with +800 odds.

Jaron Ennis vs. Lima: Prediction

I predict that Ennis will finish Lima in under four rounds because of his power punching, and the Angolan wonโ€™t be able to handle them well, especially since itโ€™s his first time fighting a boxer of this calibre in this much bigger stage.

Ennis proved in his most recent fight against Eminantas Stanionis that heโ€™s not just a headhunter, but he can also break down his opponents with vicious body punches. However, heโ€™s still very vulnerable to counters and tends to leave himself open at the tail end of exchanges.

Still, Lima doesnโ€™t carry the experience and power that could potentially put Ennis down on the canvas. Furthermore, Lima hasnโ€™t fought the toughest competition yet in his career, which is why I see him crumble to the pressure of performing under the bright lights.

โ€œBootsโ€ shouldnโ€™t have any issues handling Lima on fight night since heโ€™s on a mission to prove that he can also become a titleholder in the junior middleweight division. Itโ€™s going to be his first dip into the waters of a heavier weight class, but I expected him to deliver an early TKO/KO finish.

Jaron Ennisโ€™ Recent Fight Results

Ennis is a boxing star with an immaculate professional record and an 88% finish rate. He made his debut in the paid ranks in April 2016, when he knocked out Cory Muldrew in the first round. Then, he needed 25 straight wins to earn his first title shot against Chris van Heerden in December 2020.

But his fight against van Herdeen ended in a no-contest due to a headbutt in the opening round. Following that unfortunate result, he added eight more wins to his resume, captured the IBF welterweight title, and successfully defended it three times.

Uisma Limaโ€™s Recent Fight Results

Lima is a boxing star from Angola who made his pro debut in February 2019 against Youssoff Kone. He won that fight against Kone via third-round knockout. He quickly added nine more wins to his record before he secured a shot for the WBC International middleweight title in June 2023.

However, Lima failed to capture his first boxing title, as Aaron McKenna handed him a unanimous decision loss. That setback fueled Limaโ€™s revenge arc, as he won his last four fights to capture the IBF Inter-Continental super welterweight and IBO welterweight belts.
