Japanese boxing superstar Naoya Inoue will defend his undisputed super bantamweight title against David Picasso Romero on Dec. 27 at Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Although both are still undefeated in their pro careers, Naoya’s dominance across four weight classes has made him a heavy favorite heading into the match with -2500 boxing odds. Meanwhile, the challenger will be the overwhelming underdog at +1000 odds. A draw result has +2500 odds.

Naoya Inoue vs. David Picasso Romero: Prediction

I predict a TKO/KO stoppage victory for Inoue between rounds 7-9 against Romero since he’s the much heavier puncher and has more combinations than the challenger. Romero’s youth and athleticism will help him get over six rounds.

Although Inoue has been more hittable in his past fights, Romero doesn’t have a one-punch knockout ability that could potentially be a threat to the reigning undisputed super bantamweight world champion.

Once Romero feels the power of Inoue, I think he’ll just be willing to be on the back foot. But knowing Inoue, I think he’ll still want to send a message with a stoppage victory, especially since his fellow Japanese boxing superstar Junto Nakatani is also fighting on the same card.

Naoya Inoue’s Recent Fight Results

Inoue continued his dominance in the 122-pound division with victories and successful title defenses over Luis Nery, TJ Doheny, Ye Joon Kim, Ramon Cardenas, and most recently, Murodjon Akhmadaliev.

David Picasso Romero’s Recent Fight Results

Romero is a Mexican boxing rising star with a perfect professional record. In his last five fights, he scored victories over Damien Vasquez, Azat Hovhannisyan, Diego Alberto Ruiz, Yehison Cuello, and Kyonosuke Kameda.
