The Raiders first played the Cincinnati Bengals in 1968. The Raiders were based in Oakland at the time and won 31-10. Since then, the two teams have met 31 other times, with the Raiders leading the series 21-11.

This week, the two will meet again in a critical matchup for both teams’ playoff aspirations. BetMGM has the latest NFL odds for this matchup, which includes an over-under of 50.5.

Let’s take a look at the Bengals over-under record against their AFC competition.

Cincinnati Bengals Overview

Before diving into over-under records and trends, you need to know how the Bengals do offensively and defensively in 2021. The truth is, they rank highly in both points per game and points allowed per game.

The Bengals are ninth in the NFL for points scored per game with 26.2.

Defensively, Cincinnati only gives up 22.6 points per game. This also puts them in the upper tier of the NFL, ranking eleventh overall.

For over-under lines, the Bengals are 3-2 in AFC games and 4-5 overall at hitting the over. They have been more likely to hit an over in an AFC game so far, but it goes even deeper than that.

Over Streak

Not only are the Bengals 3-2 in over bets in AFC games this year, but they have also hit the over in their last three AFC games.

They have a chance to extend that streak this week against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Why It Is Happening

To understand this streak, you have to take a look at over-under records for every team in the NFL. Once you do this, it jumps out at you why the Bengals have gone over in their last three, because they go over against other teams that tend to do so.

The two AFC opponents they went under with were the Jaguars and the Steelers, who are two of the most under-prone teams in the NFL. Jacksonville is just 2-7 on over bets this year, while Pittsburgh is not much better at 2-6-1. That puts those two teams at 27th and 28th in the NFL, respectively.

Now, let’s take a look at their last three AFC opponents. They have been the Ravens, Jets, and Browns.

All three teams have been in games that have gone over more than under this year. The Jets are the NFL’s best team at hitting the over at 6-3. The Browns are right behind them, going 6-4 for the over, and the Ravens are 5-4 hitting the over.

All three have been teams that you can count on going over more often than not. However, the Bengals aren’t a team that will hit the over on their own; they need the other team to contribute.

Will It Continue in Week 11?

If the above holds true, then their game vs. the Raiders is destined to go over. The Raiders are 5-4 on the over this season, which falls right in line with Cincinnati’s previous three AFC opponents.

BetMGM currently has this over-under line at 50.5. The Raiders allow 25.6 points per game and score an average of 23.3 points.

If this game is going to go over, the Raiders will have to find success through the air. They have the second-most passing yards per game in the NFL at 298.8 and have not proven that they can consistently run the ball. Even if they could, the Bengals’ rushing defense is ranked 8th in the league at rushing yards allowed per game.
