Sean McVay’s Rams squads have been contenders every year he’s at the helm. They just signed Odell Beckham Jr., yet their odds of winning it all didn’t budge.
After their loss on Monday night, the Rams’ Super Bowl odds dropped from second to fourth (+900).
They now trail the Bills, Buccaneers, and Packers and are tied with Arizona.
They’ve had some disappointing performances and an unfortunate injury lately, so how are these odds reasonable?
Monstrous Defense
The defense is star-studded.
They have All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. They just traded for future Hall of Famer Von Miller. And then, of course, there is the one and only Aaron Donald.
That doesn’t even include other standouts like Leonard Floyd, who has 7.5 sacks already.
The defense has delivered, ranking 11th in yards allowed and 12th in points allowed per game. Against the run, they’ve held opponents to the eleventh fewest total yards.
They’re also tied for ninth in takeaways, with 14 through their first ten games. In that span, they have 29 sacks, which is just one shy of the league lead.
Explosive Offense
For as good as the defense has been, the offense has been even better. They are seventh in the NFL, averaging 27.1 points per game.
They are also fifth in passing, averaging 289.3 yards per game through the air.
Stafford’s favorite target has been Cooper Kupp. He’s been a monster this year, with 85 catches, 1,141 yards, and ten touchdowns. He’s first in the NFL in yards and touchdowns, and he passed Tyreek Hill for first in receptions against the 49ers.
Running Back Darrell Henderson Jr. has 747 total yards and seven touchdowns between rushing and receiving. The loss of Robert Woods will be challenging to overcome, but they will still have plenty of weapons to keep lighting up the scoreboard.
Special Teams
Often overlooked, special teams can be the difference between being a conference champion or missing the playoffs. Flipping the field, not turning it over, and not leaving points on the board are all little things that add up in the end.
Fortunately for them, the Rams have been excellent so far when it comes to kicking. Kicker Matt Gay has only missed one field goal and one extra point so far this season.
In the other aspects, they aren’t quite as good. They only average 45.8 yards per punt, which is 18th in the league.
The return teams are also towards the bottom of the league. The Rams kick return average is 31st, while their punt return average is 30th.
The Rams’ Super Bowl Odds
Things haven’t been perfect lately, but the Rams’ Super Bowl Odds are still high for a reason. They’ve got tremendous talent on both sides of the ball and a coach that has proven he can optimize his roster.
The road will be difficult, and the NFL has proven that nothing is given this year, but they’re certainly one of the most capable teams of winning it all. So if you like the Rams and their chances to win the Super Bowl, check out BetMGM’s online betting and see the wager options available for them.
