The Denver Broncos defense might be the best in the NFL after two games. They’ve allowed opponents to catch only 36 of 69 passes. 52% is quite impressive in an offense-driven league.
What does this mean for the Broncos’ Super Bowl odds, and what other important factors are in play right now for making a reasonable football bet?
Well, on top of their great defensive performance, they have few key players performing well on both sides of the ball. While Teddy Bridgewater still has some room to grow, he’s among only a handful of quarterbacks tied for the most thrown TDs and no interceptions.
These are only a few of the reasons I’m excited about the Denver Broncos’ season. Here’s a quick look at the odds for the Denver Broncos to reach and win the Super Bowl.
Denver Broncos Super Bowl Odds +4000
In May, the Broncos’ Super Bowl odds quickly changed when rumors surrounding a pairing with Aaron Rodgers had everyone on the edge of their seats. However, his eventual return to the Green Bay Packers caused some serious deviation.
Even though the Broncos didn’t land Rodgers, they did find a quarterback during the offseason. The arrival of Teddy Bridgewater has had an immediate impact on the team, thanks in part to having fantastic targets in place. The likes of Noah Fant, Jerry Jeudy, and Courtland Sutton take a bit of pressure off the QB.
On defense, one notable draft selection to keep in mind is Patrick Surtain II, who said, “I can come in and make an immediate impact.” At Alabama, Surtain II had 24 defended passes, four interceptions, and 116 tackles.
However, the Broncos still have some issues to work through. Rushes to the right side of the field, for example, have resulted in only 2.1 yards per play. I believe that this is a glaring weakness that good defenses may take advantage of in the future.
The opportunity for opponents to poke and prod at the Broncos’ third-down conversion rate of 27.3% also makes me quite uncomfortable.
Changing the Odds
As Teddy Bridgewater becomes more comfortable with the team and the defense grows, Denver’s odds will continue to shift.
Their first five games are all winnable. If they reach a 4-1 or 5-0 record, expect to see their Super Bowl odds change dramatically.
I believe that the Denver Broncos have what it takes to win. If you look at their talent at each position, they have an excellent roster. However, whether they make the Super Bowl depends largely on whether the pieces they have in place can continue to improve.
Do You Have Confidence In Denver’s Super Bowl Odds?
I think that with Denver’s strong roster, excellent coaching, and a front office that isn’t afraid of making big moves to win now, the Broncos have the potential to surprise a lot of teams this year.
