Reigning WBC featherweight world champion Bruce Carrington will put his title on the line for the first time, as he welcomes the challenge of undefeated challenger Rene Palacios on Saturday at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

As the defending champion with a higher TKO/KO rate, Carrington is going to be the betting favorite with -910 boxing odds. Meanwhile, Palacios, who will be fighting in his first world title match, will be the +600 betting underdog. A draw result has odds of +2000.

Bruce Carrington vs. Rene Palacios: Prediction

My prediction is a TKO/KO victory for Carrington over Palacios because he’s the more powerful and precise fighter. Additionally, he’ll have five inches of reach advantage, which will be crucial in inflicting damage at a safe distance rather than engaging in a close-range fight.

Carrington is also the more disciplined and technical fighter, with him bringing his hands up immediately to get back on defense. Meanwhile, Palacios relies more on his head movement, as his hands are often lowered.

This could be the downfall of Palacios, as Carrington is a sneaky puncher because he uses the full length of his reach. Once he gets the right distance and rhythm, he unleashes powerful combinations to put his opponents out cold.

Bruce Carrington’s Recent Fight Results

Carrington is the current WBC featherweight world champion and is still undefeated in 17 pro bouts. His last five wins have come against Sulaiman Segawa, Dana Coolwell, Enrique Vivas, Mateus Heita, and Carlos Castro.

Rene Palacios’ Recent Fight Results

Palacios is the reigning NABF featherweight champion. He’s also an undefeated pro boxer, and his last five wins inside the ring have come against Israel Gasparrillo, Angel Aviles Armenta, Carlos Uriel Rodriguez, Rafael Rosas Ramirez, and Segawa.
