Despite 24 second-half points to force overtime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14, the Buffalo Bills suffered their fifth loss in eight games and dropped to 2-5-1 against the spread since starting the season with four ATS wins in five games. Their second-half surge did, however, send $3,400 to several people who entered King of the Weekend.
More than 50,000 people entered the free-to-play weekly contest in Week 14 by predicting the six highest-scoring teams, in order (including ties), from a pool of five games:
- Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs
- Dallas Cowboys at Washington Football Team
- Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
- San Francisco 49ers at Cincinnati Bengals
- Buffalo Bills at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Entrants win $50,000 in cash if they correctly predict the six teams and are eligible for Free Bets (up to $250) if they miss one or multiple teams. The highest score each week, regardless of whether there’s a winner, is also awarded $1,000 in cash. If there are multiple winners, the cash prizes are split. In Week 14, there were 15 winners from seven different states, including five in Arizona.
As the Bills were driving for the game-tying field goal in the final minute, the four other King of the Weekend games were completed, and the Chiefs had the most points (48), followed by the Cowboys (27), Bucs (27), 49ers (26), Browns (24), and Bills (24). And when Tyler Bass tied the game with a 25-yard field goal with 22 seconds remaining, the Bills were tied with the Cowboys and Bucs.
The tie was broken minutes later when Tom Brady connected with Breshad Perriman on the game-winning 58-yard touchdown, dropping the Bills to 7-6 and into a tie with the Cowboys for the third-most points in King of the Weekend. The tie resulted in 15 winners, each of whom received $3,400 for correctly predicting the six teams and registering the highest score of the week.
