The Los Angeles Chargers (4-1) will be on the road in Week 6 to face the Baltimore Ravens (4-1). The Chargers put up 47 points last week against the Cleveland Browns. Will they be able to score more than 24 points this week?
The latest NFL odds have the Chargers as three-point underdogs.
Let’s talk about the Chargers’ offensive outlook against the Ravens.
The Los Angeles Chargers Are 4-1
Last season, the Chargers were a 7-9 football team. They averaged exactly 24 points per game. This year, things have been a little different.
After five games, the Chargers are in first place in the AFC West at 4-1. They are averaging slightly above 28 points per game, a number that’s skewed a bit from their game last week against the Browns.
The Chargers won their two road games this season, scoring 20 against the Washington Football Team in Week 1 and 30 at Kansas City in Week 3.
The Chargers won their two road games this season, scoring 20 against the Washington Football Team in Week 1 and 30 at Kansas City in Week 3. Austin Ekeler was pushed across the goal line late in the game for his third score.
Wide receiver Mike Williams also had eight receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns against the Browns. He’s now averaging just above 15 yards per reception for the season.
The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now.
How well do they match up against the Ravens?
Chargers vs. Ravens
The Ravens are also an excellent football team, so the Chargers vs. Ravens might be an early preview of an AFC playoff game.
In Week 6, the Ravens won in overtime against the Indianapolis Colts. They scored a measly three points in the first half, coming back with 22 points in the second half, including 16 points in the fourth quarter.
Their defense allowed 513 total yards with an average of 8.1 yards per play against the Colts. Carson Wentz threw for 402 yards and two touchdowns.
The Colts were well-balanced against the Ravens, putting up 25 points in their loss on the road. Can the Los Angeles Chargers capitalize on what was exposed against the Ravens last week?
I think so.
NFL Odds Breakdown
The over-under for the game sits at 51.5. The Chargers are currently three-point underdogs with a money line at +125.
The under 24.5 (-115) is slightly favored to the over (-110) for the same point total. The over at 25.5 (+100) is EVEN.
Can the Chargers score more than 24 points against the Ravens? I like the odds here.
The Chargers are a much better football team than the Colts. Back in Week 3, the Ravens eked out a victory against the winless Detroit Lions (0-5). The Lions put up 17 against the Ravens.
The Chargers are coming off a week where they scored 47 points against a winning football team.
I like the Chargers to score a lot of points against a Ravens’ defense that gave up a lot of penalties last week. And Ekeler is just dangerous in the red zone.
Over 26.5 (+110) isn’t a bad bet for how many points the Chargers will score. I’d go even higher with the over 27.5 (+140) or 29.5 (+180).
The Ravens will have their hands full, and I don’t think their defense will be able to keep up with the Chargers for the entire game in a short week.
Are the Chargers One of the Best Teams in the AFC?
After five games, it’s clear that the Los Angeles Chargers are one of the best teams in the AFC. Of course, the Ravens are a good football team, but I don’t know if they are strong enough to stop the surging Chargers’ offense.
