This NFL season is full of twists and turns, and Week 10 should be no exception. There are some intriguing plays in football betting lines this week, including with the Chiefs at Raiders. Both teams are sorting out issues while in a dogfight for the AFC West division.
All four teams in the division have five wins, so this game has enormous implications. Based on each team’s Week 9 performances, there are some intriguing bets for this game. Have a look at some possible wagers for this critical Week 10 game.
Kansas City Chiefs
Last week’s win over Green Bay is being spun as a massive defensive performance. And while it’s true that Kansas City held them to only 7 points, the Packers were without some key players. With Aaron Rodgers in the game, this game could have turned out very differently.
In an unexpected first start, Jordan Love managed 190 passing yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. But, the Kansas City Chiefs defense did allow the Packers 122 yards on the ground. So, over 300 yards from a lineup without its biggest playmaker is still significant.
Yet on the other side of the ball, the play of Patrick Mahomes recently has become a note for concern. This was the third week in a row that Mahomes averaged less than 6 yards per pass. And he also failed to throw more than one touchdown in the same stretch.
Patrick Mahomes will rebound because he’s that good. But the Chiefs could only manage 13 points against the 5th ranked Packers defense. So now they have the 10th ranked Raiders to contend with in Week 10.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders came out flat in New York last week, whether it was a bye week rust or a couple of months of public turmoil. If bad news does occur in threes, then Las Vegas fans hope their news troubles are behind them.
Through all the upheaval, Derek Carr runs the NFL’s 2nd ranked passing offense. Against the Giants, Derek threw for 296 yards and a touchdown without a deep threat receiver.
Las Vegas managed the game well enough in the first half, taking a 3-point lead into the locker room at halftime. But it all unraveled with Carr’s pick-six to start the third quarter. Kicker Daniel Carson misses a chip shot to tie the game, and Derek Carr gets picked off for a second time.
So the Raiders come home without maintaining their division lead. But the Las Vegas Raiders wasted no time addressing their receiving depth.
DeSean Jackson isn’t young anymore, but he gives the Raiders offense a dimension that was missing last week. Derek Carr has a new weapon to stretch defenses with again.
Chiefs at Raiders (+2.5)
This Week 10 matchup is getting billed as a contest between two high-powered offenses. Derek Carr and Patrick Mahomes are both capable of lighting up the scoreboard. But neither has looked their best recently.
So for three top bets this week, I’m going to concentrate on defense first. Last year, these two teams combined for more than 65 points in both contests. At this point in the season, reaching those numbers look daunting.
The Chiefs won’t have it much easier this week with a Raider defense that keeps getting better. Yet, the Raiders are implementing new parts against a weak Kansas City defense.
Top Three Bets
Both these teams will continue their scoring troubles this week. That’s why first, I’m taking under 52.5 points.
Making the Raiders a home underdog is another motivating factor for them. So. I really like the money line of +125 on the Las Vegas Raiders.
And there’s definite value in a prop bet for Chiefs at Raiders in Week 10. Divisional games like this tend to be close. So getting +900 for this game to go into overtime is worth a wager for me.
