Chris Johnson ran for 2,000 yards in one NFL season. Now, he’s planning to run even farther with BetMGM.

BetMGM and Johnson are teaming up to promote an array of sportsbook and gaming products available to BetMGM customers.

Johnson, a former All-Pro running back, first joined the BetMGM team as a brand ambassador in the fall of 2021. He will be featured in a variety of marketing promotions and social media content. 

As a celebrity brand ambassador with deep ties to Nashville and the Titans, Johnson is expected to have a big impact in the state of Tennessee. BetMGM went live in Tennessee on November 1, 2020. 

Johnson will also be well recognized by BetMGM users in Arizona, where he found NFL success after Tennessee. He rushed for more than 800 yards with the Cardinals in 2015.

Johnson has already appeared in some marketing materials, including a branded game where he guessed whether various things measured in at more or less than 2,000 units.

Johnson famously ran for 2,006 yards with the Titans during the 2009 NFL season, winning Offensive Player of the Year in the process. 

However, Johnson’s career went much deeper than the CJ2K moniker he earned after that legendary season. Some of the highlights:

• As a senior at East Carolina, Johnson racked up 1,951 all-purpose yards, with another 1,009 kick return yards on top of that. He scored 24 touchdowns, including 17 on the ground
• Johnson rushed for 1,228 during his 2008 rookie campaign, setting the table for his record-breaking 2009 year. His 2,509 scrimmage yards in 2009 broke Marshall Faulk’s all-time record
• Johnson recorded 1,000 yards on the ground in each of his six years with the Titans. He finished his career – which included one season with the Jets and 19 games across three seasons in Arizona – with 9,651 rushing yards and 64 total touchdowns
• Johnson’s ‘09 performance remains the greatest season ever among NFL running backs. He also owns the record for most scrimmage yards within any single month, posting 968 in November 2009
