The NFL is almost at the midpoint for the regular season. The playoff picture is starting to take form, and separation is growing between pretenders and contenders.

NFL betting fans also wonder which teams will put up the most points and have favorable NFL betting odds. Here, the strategy is to find teams that started the regular season poorly. Then, see which team is playing them and if they are capable of having a big day.

This takes us to the Week 8 matchup between the Bengals and Jets. First, read on to learn whether the Cincinnati Bengals can score 27 points or more against the Jets this week. Then, explore the Bengals’ offense and the Jets’ defense to see if it is a good play.

Cincinnati Bengals Offensive Analysis

The Bengals are currently 5-2 and sitting in first place in the AFC North. They are powered by their offense, which is scoring 27 points per game.

The offense is led by last year’s number one overall draft pick, Joe Burrow. The quarterback’s sophomore season could not be going any better.

Through seven games, Burrow has passed for nearly 2,000 yards. If this pace continues, Burrow will easily have more than 4,000 yards on the season. Also, Burrow has thrown 17 touchdowns as opposed to only eight interceptions.

Burrow is getting plenty of help from Joe Mixon, the Bengals star running back. Mixon is on pace for well over 1000 yards on the ground. He is averaging nearly 4.5 yards per attempt.

There are a couple of things to look out for this week with the Bengals’ offense. First, the Bengals have struggled offensively twice on the road this season.

For example, they put up just 17 points in a road loss to the Bears. Also, keep an eye on the weather in the northeast as cold, windy, and rainy conditions are starting to kick in.

New York Jets Defensive Analysis

There is no question that the Jets have had a challenging first half of the season. They are currently 1-5 and in second-to-last place in the AFC East.

The Jets’ defense has allowed 175 points in just six games, more than 29 points per game.

Last week, the Jets’ defense allowed 54 points against the New England Patriots. Therefore, it is essential for potential bettors to read deeper into the Jets’ season. This game is the first time that the Jets allowed more than 27 points in a game.

The Jets’ defense allows the 17th most passing and rushing yards in the league. They are an average defense with a skewed point differential by the significant loss to the Patriots.

Bottom Line for Week 8 Bengals at Jets

The Bengals are certainly an intriguing option in Week 8. However, they are playing a poor opponent, and their offense is playing well.

However, bettors should keep an eye on the weather and consider the possibility that the Jets’ defense is better than its record indicates.
