Auburn vs. OIe Miss: Super Regional Preview

This will be a slugger’s Super Regional. Both Auburn and Ole Miss have lineups that can get on base and hit with power, which helps them overcome the inconsistent pitching that is often an inevitability in college baseball.

Auburn ended the regular season as one of the hottest teams in college baseball, but it opened its regional with a lackadaisical loss to Milwaukee. The offense was sensational, posting five or more home runs in multiple games.

Ole Miss was in Lincoln for its regional, but it certainly played like it was at home. A disciplined offense generated a whopping 26 walks across three games, plating many of those runs with power hitting and limiting opponents Arizona State and Nebraska with strong pitching performances.

Because of how well Ole Miss played last week, there’s a good argument that the value in this series lies with the Rebels at +145. You could just as easily argue that Nebraska and ASU just weren’t up to the task of playing a good SEC team firing on all cylinders.

I would lean slightly toward the Rebs in a series play. I feel more confident with single-game plays on the overs, as the most reliable part of this series will be the hitting lineups.
