This baseball edition of Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate is at a “neutral” site… at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, in northwest Atlanta. Geographically speaking, that’s essentially a home game for Georgia Tech. 

But there are so many Bulldog fans in Georgia that it should hardly matter.

Georgia Tech is the top team in the ACC, in the midst of its best season in 16 years. The Yellow Jackets are an impressive 10-3 against top-15 teams and have won 10 straight games inside the state of Georgia. It’s bludgeoning opponents with massive offensive outputs, leading Div. I in batting average (.354), OBP (.470), OPS (1.090), and runs scored (417).

Georgia is clinging to a half-game lead in a tough SEC, but the Bulldogs are in the middle of a brutal road stretch that includes series at Arkansas and Ole Miss. Georgia’s offensive stats are also quite good, including a .324 team batting average that ranks sixth nationally. 

With two good offenses in play and no starting pitchers announced as of Tuesday afternoon, college baseball bettors will be staring hungrily at that over 13.5.
