Oklahoma advanced out of the Atlanta regional last month after eliminating No. 2 Georgia Tech, winning back-to-back games at the regional final after initially dipping into the loser’s bracket.
Now, the Sooners can put themselves on track to advance to the College World Series championship series with another win against a highly ranked team from Georgia. The Bulldogs are the highest remaining seed in this year’s tournament and are considered one of the main threats to win the 2026 national championship.

Georgia vs. Oklahoma Preview: 2026 College World Series
Georgia and Oklahoma never played a series during this year’s regular season, so there’s no previous data point to compare this game against.
Even if there was, though, it probably wouldn’t be applicable. The Sooners have grown into a monstrous team of mashers in the postseason, hitting with virtually as much power as any other team left in the field. It’s what’s gotten Oklahoma this far in the tournament, with only six teams remaining by the time tonight’s game begins.
But as far as big bats go, Georgia has become the standard in this tournament. The Bulldogs jumped on Texas early Saturday night, plating four runs in the first inning before coasting to a six-run win. The devastating lineup mounted back-to-back late surges to advance past Mississippi State in the Super Regionals, scoring the winning runs in the eighth inning of Game 1 and the 10th inning of Game 2.
Oklahoma freshman Xander Mercurius appears to be in line for the start against Georgia, and he’s unlikely to dominate in quite the same way he did in his last outing against Kansas in his last mound appearance in the Lawrence Super Regional.
Instead, Oklahoma’s path to winning will likely come via a shootout. Georgia’s pitching has been quite good of late, but its staff isn’t unhittable – its team WHIP of 1.41 rates outside the top 50.
So the Sooners will need to out-bash Georgia’s excellent hitters if they want the inside track to the championship series.
Georgia, which is a 2.5-run spread favorite at BetMGM, can keep cashing tickets simply by playing the balanced baseball it has over the course of this spring. If the Bulldogs win, they’ll likely wake up as national championship favorites over UNC, the current short shot.
As for betting this game, I’d prefer banking on offense and betting the over. If you want to get involved with a side, I would personally lean toward taking the big number with Oklahoma on the moneyline. The spread doesn’t interest me, since Georgia’s offense can create plenty of margin on a good day.
Prediction: Over 11.5; Lean Oklahoma +190
