The college football playoff picture is shaping up heading into late October. The Georgia Bulldogs look like the clear top team in the country, but other contenders have a chance to bolster their resume in Week 8.

In the article below, I’ll be looking at some critical upcoming matchups featuring ranked teams. I’ll also talk about some of the NCAAF best bets for Week 8. All college football betting lines are from BetMGM.

Read on for my analysis and predictions for Week 8 bets on college football.

Oklahoma State at Iowa State (-7)

Oklahoma State is coming off a significant win on the road against the Texas Longhorns but now must head north for another key Big 12 matchup.

Oklahoma State is undefeated on the season and has legit college football playoff hopes. Iowa State, meanwhile, still has a chance to compete for the Big 12 title after beating Kansas State last week.

From an NCAAF football betting angle, it’s somewhat surprising to see Oklahoma State as underdogs in this game. That shows how much value oddsmakers put on home-field advantage on college football.

Iowa State started the season with playoff hopes, but losses to Baylor and Iowa threatened to derail the season.

Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy has performed exceptionally well as of late, completing 22 of 25 passes against Kansas State last week to lead his team to a win. If Purdy can repeat the performance at home against Oklahoma State, I believe that Iowa State has a chance to get its season back on track.

Alabama at Tennessee (+25.5)

Despite losing to Texas A&M, Alabama’s title hopes are alive and well. Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide now head to Knoxville to take on Tennessee.

Looking at the NCAAF spreads for this game, I can’t help but feel as though Tennessee has a chance to cover the 25.5-point spread. Tennessee is 2-0 against the spread coming off a loss this year. Alabama is always good, but they’re only 4-3 against the spread this year.

USC at Notre Dame (-7)

The Fighting Irish has only lost once this season, and it was against undefeated Cincinnati. USC, meanwhile, is going through a tough season in which they’ve fired their head coach and suffered losses to Stanford, Oregon State, and Utah.

The USC defense is giving up 382.2 yards per game, ranked 70th in the NCAA. That’s why I’m surprised to see Notre Dame favored by only seven points according to the NCAAF betting lines from BetMGM.

Notre Dame is the superior team and playing in front of their home fans, which is why I expect the Fighting Irish to win easily.

Reviewing the NCAAF Best Bets for Week 8

Week 8 has intriguing matchups from a sports betting perspective, especially in the Big 12 and SEC. Notre Dame looks a little undervalued, and the Tennessee Volunteers record against the spread coming off a loss presents an excellent opportunity for sports bettors.
