Coastal Carolina entered the 2020 college football season with 13 wins. The nation’s second-youngest FBS program had 13 all-time wins in the FBS, one fewer win than LSU had last year alone. The Chanticleers would succeed LSU as national champions, hoped some bettors.

Coastal Carolina was one of 75 teams whom bettors targeted in BetMGM national championship odds. As of this week (with national championship bets still open), they have received 0.01 percent of the total handle and 0.02 percent of total bets, both tied for 63rd nationally. Seven Group of Five teams received more bets than Coastal Carolina, a group led by BYU (0.89 percent) and Cincinnati (1.02 percent).

Despite being off the board since their Sugar Bowl loss, Clemson still ranks first with more than 23 percent of total bets, four full percentage points higher than Alabama, and nearly 11 percentage points higher than Ohio State. The Buckeyes’ total bets and handle climbed in the days after demolishing Clemson but they still rank fourth, behind Notre Dame, for total bets (12.82 percent).

Here’s the full list of 75 college football teams that received national championship bets this season:
