These College Football Underdogs May Cause Upsets in Week 12

Much like the NFL this year, the college football underdogs continue to pay out week after week in college football betting. We’ve seen some big upsets this year, with Texas A&M over Alabama, Illinois over Penn State, and Iowa losing to Purdue, to name a few.

Last week, we saw Baylor end Oklahoma’s undefeated season with a 27-14 victory over Caleb Williams and the Sooners. So let’s look ahead to the Week 12 college football betting picks and predict the top upsets of the week.

Wake Forest (+165) at Clemson

It seems that Wake Forest continues to be disrespected in college football as they head to Clemson as 4.5-point underdogs against the Tigers. The Deacons are second in the nation in scoring this year, averaging a gaudy 45 points per game, and have run their RPO offense close to perfection.

Quarterback Sam Hartman is having a fantastic season and has largely been untouched in the pocket as he continues to rack up the numbers. In Wake Forest’s only loss this season, they still managed to put up 55 points.

This Clemson team isn’t what it used to be. This season, the offense has been anemic with a struggling offensive line that has provided running backs with just 4.2 yards per rush. As a result, I think there’s good value on the money line for Wake Forest at +165.

Florida at Missouri (+250)

Despite a 70-52-win last week against Samford, it appears that things are continuing to unravel for the Florida Gators. The Gators gave up 42 points in the first half against the Bulldogs, which was the most points the Gators have surrendered in one half in their history.

Many feel that Head Coach Dan Mullen’s days are numbered as Florida heads to Missouri to take on the Tigers. However, the one thing that the Gators have on their side this week is that the Missouri defense is terrible. They’re 116th in the nation in yards per play and have allowed over 35 points per game this year.

While there is value on the money line for the Tigers at +250 against a spiraling Florida team, it’s still a risk. If you aren’t comfortable with the money line, consider taking the Tigers with the points. Florida is 0-4 this year on the road against the spread.

UCLA at USC (+135)

The Bruins will take on the Trojans on Saturday in the latest matchup in the teams’ long, storied rivalry. The Trojans have dominated the all-time series with a 49-32-7 record which dates back to 1929. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been a banner year for either team, so this game is more about bragging rights than anything.

However, the Trojans are two wins away from bowl game eligibility, so a win here could go a long way. The teams are similar to each other when it comes to yards for and yards allowed. The Bruins have put up 424.3 per game on offense, while the Trojans have 441.3.

On defense, the Trojans are giving up 396.6 while the Bruins surrender 391.4. This game could come down to the final drive, and at +135, there’s good value on the home team.

Pick Your Top College Football Underdogs Today

These are three of my favorite college football underdogs for Week 12, but with a full slate of games, there’s bound to be plenty more. Can Kenneth Walker III and Michigan State upset C.J. Stroud and the high-flying Ohio State Buckeyes? We’ll have to wait and see.
