Expectations are high for Dave Doeren and NC State this season; they are tied with Miami for the second-best ACC Championship odds in college football betting.
The team returns 17 starters overall, led by quarterback Devin Leary, who developed into one of the country’s best passers last year with 35 touchdowns and only five interceptions. The defense returns ten starters after allowing only 19.7 points per game last season.
Here’s a look at NC State’s schedule with dates, times, opponents, and analysis:
Week 1 – at East Carolina Pirates
Date: September 3
Time: 12:00 p.m. ET
This has been a difficult road trip for NC State, which has dropped three of its last four visits to Greenville. If the Wolfpack hopes to make a run in 2022, they’ll need to begin reversing trends like that, and it all starts in Week 1.
Week 2 – vs. Charleston Southern Buccaneers
Date: September 10
Time: 12:30 p.m. ET
This will be the first-ever meeting between these two schools. The Wolfpack have never dropped a game to an FCS school.
Week 3 – vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Date: September 17
Time: 7:00 p.m. ET
These teams have not met since 2003, and NC State has won four straight. The Texas Tech Red Raiders enter Year 1 of the Joe McGuire era, and the offense figures to look different (and likely better) under offensive coordinator Zach Kittley.
Week 4 – vs. Connecticut Huskies
Date: September 24
Time: TBD
The third of three straight home games comes against a struggling Connecticut Huskies program entering the first year under new head coach Jim Mora Jr.
Week 5 – at Clemson Tigers
Date: October 1
Time: TBD
For the Wolfpack to win the Atlantic, they’ll need to get by Clemson first. NC State broke an eight-game losing streak to the Clemson Tigers with last year’s 27-21 win in double overtime.
Week 6 – vs. Florida State Seminoles
Date: October 8
Time: TBD
NC State has won four of the last five meetings, but this is a potential letdown following a big meeting with Clemson the week before.
Week 7 – at Syracuse Orange
Date: October 15
Time: TBD
The Wolfpack have dominated this series, holding a 13-2 advantage over the Syracuse Orange, who enter a critical season in the Dino Babers era. Now in his seventh season at Syracuse, Babers is likely on the college football hot seat.
Week 8 – BYE
Week 9 – vs. Virginia Tech Hokies
Date: October 27
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Both teams enter off a bye and will be fully rested. The Virginia Tech Hokies have won five straight meetings but figure to be rebuilding in Year 1 under Brent Pry.
Week 10 – vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Date: November 5
Time: TBD
A monumental matchup with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons could decide the fate of both teams in 2022. The Wolfpack have won six straight meetings in Raleigh and will be hungry to avenge last year’s 45-42 Demon Deacons win.

Week 11 – vs. Boston College Eagles
Date: November 12
Time: TBD
The Wolfpack have won four of their last five Senior Day games. The Boston College Eagles have Phil Jurkovec under center and Zay Flowers back at receiver so that they won’t be an easy out.
Week 12 – at Louisville Cardinals
Date: November 19
Time: TBD
The first of two straight road games to end the year. NC State has won three of the last four meetings but has dropped two of three away games in Louisville as ACC foes.
Week 13 – at North Carolina Tar Heels
Date: November 25
Time: TBD
An away game against the rival North Carolina Tar Heels concludes the regular season. The Wolfpack have won four of the last six meetings.
