  • Below is an in-depth look at the Texas A&M-Alabama series.

The Texas A&M-Alabama football series doesn’t go as far back as some of the rivalries in the SEC, but it has become one of the most anticipated games of the regular season over the last few years since the Aggies joined the conference in 2012.

The Crimson Tide are always among the national championship favorites in college football betting while Texas A&M is usually buried. As division foes, these programs meet annually with no love lost, as we saw this past offseason when Saban called out Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher for buying his top-ranked recruiting class in the 2022 cycle.

Texas A&M vs. Alabama Series History

The Aggies and Crimson Tide have met 15 times, with the Tide holding a 12-3 edge in the standings. The first meeting was in 1942 in the first of two Cotton Bowl matchups (1-1).

Since joining the SEC, Texas A&M is 2-9 against Alabama. The Aggies won their first matchup as conference foes in 2012 as Johnny Manziel burst onto the scene. The Tide then rolled to eight straight before A&M coach Jimbo Fisher became the first Nick Saban assistant to beat him in 2021.

The Alabama Crimson Tide got their revenge over Texas A&M in the form of a 24-20 win. Even with the win over Texas A&M, the Crimson Tide and Aggies’ seasons are not what each program expected.

Alabama has lost two games and will not represent the SEC West in the SEC Championship Game for the first time since 2019, and Texas A&M will be watching the postseason from the couch at 4-8.

Alabama knocked off Auburn in the Iron Bowl last weekend and secured another 10-win season. They sit sixth in the College Football Playoff rankings and will need lots of chaos to make it to the final four, but a New Year’s Six Bowl is in play.

Texas A&M upended LSU in a massive upset that sent the Tigers from fifth to 14th in the CFP rankings. Texas A&M is done for the season.
