  • Cade McNamara led Michigan to its first-ever College Football Playoff in 2021.
  • Cade McNamara has now entered the transfer portal.
  • Cade McNamara could potentially end up at Miami, Texas A&M or Nevada.

Thanks to its big win at Ohio State, the Michigan Wolverines have cemented themselves as true College Football Playoff contenders for the second season in a row.

This year, though, they are likely to be without the man who ran the offense during last year’s magical Big Ten championship run.

Michigan QB Transfer: Cade McNamara Hits the NCAA Transfer Portal

Cade McNamara, who led the Wolverines to their first-ever College Football Playoff Appearance last season, is departing the University of Michigan for greener pastures.

Cade McNamara Rivals

Rivals ranked Cade McNamara as a four-star prospect at quarterback.

Cade McNamara 247

Like Rivals, 247 ranked McNamara as the No. 1 quarterback from the state of Nevada and as a four-star overall prospect.

Where Will Cade McNamara Transfer?

Three schools stand out as potential landing spots for Cade McNamara: Nevada, Miami and Texas A&M.

Miami is on the table because former Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis is now at Miami, and McNamara could bring some much-needed stability to the Hurricanes’ struggles under center this season.

McNamara has no obvious connections to Texas A&M, but if Jimbo Fisher insists on running a pro-style system in College Station, he’ll need a top-level quarterback that fits his schematic designs.

McNamara – one of the top pro-style quarterbacks in his class – could be the key that unlocks it all for the Aggies’ maligned offense.

As for Nevada… who doesn’t like a good homecoming? McNamara could elect to play closer to home, and the Wolf Pack need all the help they can get.

Cade McNamara Stats

In 2021, Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara threw for 2,576 yards with 15 passing touchdowns and six interceptions.

This season, McNamara only attempted 25 passes in limited action before suffering a serious knee injury against UConn on Sept. 17.

Cade McNamara Surgery

McNamara finally underwent knee surgery earlier this month to correct a “serious” problem.

Evidently, part of the reason that McNamara lost his job to JJ McCarthy this season is that he wasn’t fully healthy.

McNamara might be on the way out, but in the age of the Transfer Portal, there’s always news of incoming players to watch.

With a win over Ohio State in the books, and early signing day right around the corner, plenty of future Michigan talent is on the horizon.

Jason Hewlett could be a very direct prize from Michigan’s big rivalry win over Ohio State in Columbus.

On Monday, the three-star Ohio ATH committed to play for the maize and blue over his home-state Buckeyes.

Michigan 2023 Football Schedule
