England vs. Senegal Analysis
England was far from emphatic during the Group Stage, with the game against USA particularly hard to watch. However, they still managed to top a difficult group to get through to the Round of 16.
They amassed two clean sheets, seven points, and nine goals along the way, and hopefully, this will give England the confidence they need for a deep run. Southgate has the best player selection dilemmas going into the match.
Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden were handed starting spots for the first time in the tournament, and between them, they scored all three goals against Wales. Southgate should be tempted to stick with this formula but is known for his pragmatism rather than his confidence.

Senegal was expected to struggle in the World Cup without the talismanic Sadio Mane, but they’ve coped remarkably well without the midfielder. Aliou Cissé has managed to get the best out of this team, and they are playing with swagger and confidence.
With Ismaila Sarr, Boulaye Dia, and Iliman Ndiaye up front, Senegal has some pacy attackers. This team scored five goals in the Group Stage and has the attacking talent to threaten England’s defense.
However, the Champions of Africa did concede four goals, and their failure to keep a clean sheet is a concern. Especially when going up against the likes of Harry Kane, Marcus Rashfor, Raheem Sterling, Bukayo Saka, and more.
I think Senegal will start this game strong and could get the first goal, but ultimately they don’t have the defensive capabilities to keep England at bay.
The Three Lions should take all three points here, but they won’t make it easy for themselves.
