The end of the frantic 2019/2020 Premier League season is as close as can be and this looks like it’s going to go right down to the wire. Liverpool may have taken the title weeks ago, but this doesn’t matter to the teams fighting for Champions League and Europa spots, or to those involved in the relegation battle.

We have three mouth-watering matches to look forward to in this preview! On Sunday, July 19, we have Tottenham Hotspurs hosting Leicester City in a must-win match for both teams.

On July 22, we then have the champions Liverpool who welcome Arsenal to Anfield. Liverpool’s mentality will be tested by the Gunner’s recent return to winning ways. Also on July 22, a resurgent Man United host struggling West Ham in what can only be a daunting prospect for the Hammers, given United’s current form.

Here’s an in-depth look at all the Premier League betting odds, team form, and key men to keep an eye out for as we head into the season’s final weeks.

Tottenham vs. Leicester City

Date: 07/19/2020

Time: 4:00 pm BST

Spurs host Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, July 19. This is a game that both teams desperately need to win. Before the break, the Foxes looked certain to have clinched a Champions League spot, but poor performances since the restart have put this into jeopardy.

Tottenham is also coming off the back of relatively poor form after the restart, with Harry Kane yet to find his usual predatory goal instinct. Mourinho’s team seems to be struggling in front of goal and lacking in creativity.

However, Tottenham did beat Arsenal to keep their European dreams within touching distance.

Tottenham vs. Leicester City latest odds

Odds:

Tottenham +130

Tie +230

Leicester +225

Leicester took all three points the last time they played Tottenham and the Spurs should be looking to take back the bragging rights on home soil.

Given Leicester’s poor run of form and Tottenham’s recent win against Arsenal, most sportsbooks are putting odds on Tottenham to take all three points.

Neither team looks like too much of a threat at the moment and although Spurs look likely to win, a draw could also be on the cards.

Restart form

A draw against Manchester United in their first match back seemed to be a good sign, followed by a convincing win over West Ham. But a big slip up against Sheffield United and a drab draw with Bournemouth left Spurs in 10th place, far off Europa and Champions League spots. They did bounce back to winning ways after a last gasp winner against Arsenal.

The Foxes have hardly had a dream start after the break either. What seemed like a sure spot in the Champions League is swiftly disappearing with a string of poor results. With Chelsea already having overtaken them into the third spot, Leicester absolutely capitulated in a 4-1 drubbing by a misfiring Bournemouth team. They were simply lucky that Manchester United drew to Southampton, keeping the Foxes in fourth spot.

Key players

Key players to keep an eye on:

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham isn’t short of attacking talent, but Mourinho is yet to get the best out of Harry Kane, who with 13 goals is their highest scorer. Despite being the best striker in the team, Kane has simply not reached the attacking heights of previous seasons. Son Heung-Min has returned from his South Korean military service stint fitter than ever and looking in blistering form. With 9 goals and 9 assists, he seems to be carrying the weight of the team on his shoulders. Dele Alli is also a key component in the Spurs team and is always a player to watch for an explosive piece of skill. Young midfielder Harry Winks adds some much-needed creativity in the middle of the park, but he also has a propensity to receive a fair share of yellow cards, with 8 to his name this season.

Tottenham player Son Heung-Min celebrates scoring a goal against Arsenal.

Leicester City

Kasper Schmeichel, while not quite at the same heights as his famous father, is a solid goalkeeper for the Foxes and he is assisted at the back by the talented Ben Chilwell. Chilwell is a wonderful player to watch, as he’s solid when defending but also makes surging runs up-field and a keen eye for goals.

James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are strong in the midfield. Maddison, in particular, is an exciting, dynamic midfielder that looks set for big things in the future. In the last couple of years, Jamie Vardy has been one of the most lethal players in front of the goal, but hasn’t quite found his gears this season. On 23 goals and 4 assists, he still racked up an impressive tally though.

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison takes a shot on goal in a Premier League match against Aston Villa.

Conclusion

This is going to either be a fiery encounter full of goals, or a tepid affair with Tottenham employing the Mourinho “park the bus” mentality. However, both of these teams are in desperate need of a win to consider their seasons anything resembling a success. The Foxes are desperately fighting to hold onto their Champions League spot and Tottenham are simply a long way off from where they are used to being at this stage of the season.

Liverpool vs. Chelsea

Date: 07/22/2020

Time: 08:15 pm BST

Liverpool and Chelsea badges

Liverpool are basking in the glory of being named Premier League champions for the first time in 30 years, but they seem to have taken their foot off the gas since then. They welcome the Blues to Anfield in what could be an opportunity for Chelsea to bounce back, after a shambolic defeat against Sheffield that has put their Champions League spot in jeopardy.

It will be interesting to see if Jürgen Klopp can get his players fired up for what is traditionally a game full of goals. It’s going to take a lot for Frank Lampard’s young team to shackle Liverpool’s attacking talent if the Reds decide this is a game that they are going to turn up with the right mentality for. Chelsea goes into this game with a lot more to lose than Liverpool.

Liverpool vs. Chelsea latest betting odds

Odds:

Liverpool -112

Tie +290

Chelsea +280

Chelsea took all three points the last time out against Liverpool. However, they played a relatively inexperienced team in the FA Cup on this occasion.

Frank Lampard’s young team has looked devastating at times this season, with energy, motivation, and skill in abundance. However, they have lacked consistency, and this is why they find themselves staring down the barrel of a resurgent Manchester United taking their coveted Champions League spot.

Liverpool were unstoppable before they won the league, but seem to be lacking the motivation to finish off the season as strong as they started it.

With home advantage and more experience, most online sports betting sites are expecting Liverpool to come away with the win.

Previous five results

The Reds have beaten Chelsea three times in the last five games. Chelsea have taken all three points just once, and there has been one draw.

Restart form

A tepid draw to Everton was Liverpool’s first result after the restart, but they soon hammered Crystal Palace 4-0. Man City was then beaten by Chelsea to hand Liverpool the title on 25 June. They were then humbled 4-0 by Manchester City and although they won their next two matches, a dour draw at home to Burnley just goes to show that they don’t have much to play for, at this stage of the season.

Liverpool’s Mo Salah takes a free-kick against Burnley with a huge Liverpool badge in the stadium behind the goals.

Chelsea, on the other hand, had a string of strong results that vaulted them up into third place above Leicester City. However, a shock loss to Sheffield has put them under incredible pressure. In order to hold on to a spot in the top four ahead of Leicester City and Manchester United, they have to win all of their remaining games.

Key players

Key players to keep an eye on:

Liverpool

At the heart of Liverpool’s successful season is one of the world’s best defenders, Virgil van Dijk. With 15 clean sheets and 4 goals to his name, he has been a huge factor in Liverpool clinching the title. Trent Alexander-Arnold is an up-and-coming young talent that has also impressed at the back. With 3 goals this season, his dashes up the sideline have been a delight to watch. This young British player has a very bright future ahead of him at Anfield.

Of course, Liverpool are known for their lethal combination of attacking players in Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Saido Mané, who work together as the league’s most devastating attacking force. Salah currently has 19 goals, Mané has 16, and Firmino is on 8. Although they don’t seem to possess the same drive that they did before they won the title, they should still add to this goal tally in their last couple of games.

Trent Alexander-Arnold takes a corner kick for Liverpool with bright stadium lights in the background.

Chelsea

Chelsea has a young team that came into the restart full of confidence and their results reflected this. American midfielder Christian Pulisic seems to be the real deal and has injected much-needed creativity and pace into Frank Lampard’s midfield. The Blues top scorer is Tammy Abraham with 14 goals, Willian follows with 9, and Pulisic with 8. Midfielder N’golo Kanté is talented and experienced. He provides an anchor for this young team. Two talented youngsters to keep an eye out for are Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount.

Mason Mount of Chelsea dribbles the ball on the field.

Conclusion

Simply put, Frank Lampard’s young team has to give everything that they can in this game. If they lose, their place in next season’s Champions League is increasingly under pressure. They have a lot more riding on this game than Liverpool and that’s why we expect Liverpool to hit them on the counter-attack. The Liverpool players will have to be at their best to contain a side that is full of exuberance, but the young Chelsea players ultimately lack experience and this could be their downfall.

Manchester United vs. West Ham United

Date: 07/22/2020

Time: 6:00 pm BST

A red Manchester United sign lit up at the entrance of Old Trafford Stadium.

On Wednesday, 22 July, Manchester United welcome West Ham to Old Trafford in what should be another stepping stone for United, in a resurgent end to the 2019/2020 season. The Hammers are hanging just a few points above relegation the Premier League table, whereas Man Utd have been climbing into the top four places ever since the restart.

With 16 wins on the trot and a recent Premier League record, being the only team to ever win four consecutive matches in a row by three goals or more, United are the team to beat right now. A match against this Red Devils team is a daunting prospect and a return to Old Trafford for David Moyes which he is certainly not relishing.

Man Utd vs. West Ham latest odds

Odds:

Man Utd -385

Tie +475

West Ham +1150

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a sportsbook casino that is willing to favor anyone going up against Man Utd right now. They haven’t lost a game since they brought in Bruno Fernandes at the end of January. Combined with the return of Paul Pogba in midfield and Marcus Rashford up front, as well as the form of youngster Mason Greenwood and the constant goal-scoring threat of Anthony Martial, this United team is looking stronger than they have since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

At the moment, the Hammers aren’t short of confidence and they will certainly bring their game to United. However, United are just too strong at the moment to believe there could be an upset on the cards.

Previous results

The last result between the two teams was actually a very convincing 2-0 win to the Hammers in 2019. United were going through a particularly bad spell and Ole Gunnar Solskjær was certainly worried about his job.

Both teams have won two of their five previous head to heads, with only one draw.

Restart form

The only blemish on United’s restart form came in a 1-1 draw against Tottenham in their first game back, and a 2-2 draw to Southampton. United have looked largely unstoppable. The terrifying combination of Fernandes and Pogba in midfield feeding balls to a top three of Rashford, Greenwood, and Martial has been used to devastating effect. As already mentioned, they recently became the only Premier League team in history to win four consecutive games by 3 goals or more. They are relentlessly hunting down Leicester and Chelsea for a top-four spot. They lost a golden opportunity to take third spot in a draw against Southampton. However, if they win all their remaining fixtures, we don’t see them losing out.

Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford celebrate Martial’s equalizer against Southampton.

The Hammers have not been bad since the restart with important wins against Norwich and Chelsea. They are, however, hanging just a few points above the relegation zone and need to win as many games as possible to stay afloat. The goal-scoring form of Antonio has been a huge help in their bid to remain in the Premier League next season.

Key players

Key players to keep an eye on:

Manchester United

United are on such a good run of form at the moment, it is actually difficult to choose the key men to look out for. At the back, David de Gea has officially passed Peter Schmeichel as the most capped non-British keeper for United with 400 appearances. The back four have been in imperious form, deputized by Harry Maguire. Luke Shaw has come right after a few shaky seasons and new player Aaron Wan-Bissaka is almost unplayable in defense.

Of course, the player making the most waves at the moment is the Portuguese midfield maestro Bruno Fernandes. Having only played 10 Premier League matches for the Red Devils, he has already racked up 7 goals to his name and is yet to taste defeat in a United shirt. His partnership with the newly returned Paul Pogba has got fans dreaming of trophies already. The two players make a midfield partnership that any club is fearful of going up against.

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes covers his ears and slides on the field in his signature goal-scoring celebration.

United haven’t had attacking talent like their current strikers in many years. The combination of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood is swift and devastating. Marcus Rashford has recently returned from a back injury and is tied top scorer with Anthony Martial on 16 goals this Premier League season. Mason Greenwood is perhaps an even more impressive forward, given that he is only 18 years old. He has taken his maiden EPL tally to 9 goals. He is particularly hard to defend against due to his ability to strike with his left and right foot.

West Ham

West Ham have an experienced keeper in Lukasz Fabianski and a backline that is surprisingly adept at scoring goals. Aaron Cresswell, Fabián Balbuena, Angelo Ogbonna, and Issa Diop have 9 goals between them, which is incredibly impressive.

The Hammer’s midfield is deputized by experienced captain Mark Noble with 4 goals and Robert Snodgrass on 5. Declan Rice is a wonderfully talented young midfielder that keeps up the energy and creativity in the middle of the field.

West Ham captain Mark Noble celebrates a goal.

Up front, Sébastian Haller leads West Ham’s strikers with 7 goals, and with Andriy Yarmolenko bringing in 4 goals this season too.

Conclusion

David Moyes looks like he should be able to keep West Ham in the Premier League this season. They have had some good results against teams that are much stronger on paper. That being said, it’s going to be a huge task for Moyes to take anything away from Old Trafford given the form that United are currently in. The Red Devils simply have to play Champions League football next season and we don’t see them relenting on their incredible run to clinch a top-four spot this season. If the Hammers do manage an upset here, it will certainly be a surprise.
