After both the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers picked up big wins in their Week 2 games, the 49ers vs. Packers matchup will happen on Sunday Night Football in Week 3. This game between two of the most popular teams in the NFL should have plenty of NFL betting action.

Here’s what you need to know about both teams heading into Sunday night.

Comparing Performances vs. Lions

Both teams have already played the Detroit Lions, who look to be in for a challenging season. With the Lions allowing the second-most points so far this season, it shows that both the 49ers and Packers are capable of putting up points.

In Week 1, the 49ers scored 41 points and led that game against the Lions 31-10 at halftime. Jimmy Garoppolo went 17/25 and threw for 314 yards with one touchdown pass.

If that was not enough, even backup quarterback Trey Lance got involved in that game and had a touchdown pass of his own.

Other notable performances came from running back Elijah Mitchell, who rushed for 104 yards and had a rushing touchdown, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who had nine catches for 189 yards and a touchdown.

In comparison, the Packers put up 35 points in their Week 2 victory over the Lions. Aaron Rodgers had 255 passing yards and four touchdown passes. Aaron Jones had four touchdowns (one rushing, three receptions).

Overall, both teams showed that they could dominate a less experienced team, but how will they perform against equally talented teams?

49ers vs. Packers in Total Offense

In total points scored this season, the 49ers are in the top 10 in the NFL. The 49ers have 58 points, while the Packers have 38. Thirty-five of those points came in the Lions game mentioned above.

As for total yards, the Packers are in the bottom four in the NFL with 552. The 49ers are in the middle of the pack (18th) with 748. In passing yards, the 49ers are higher with 500 vs. 413. The 49ers also lead the Packers in rushing yards 248 to 139.

Key Factors

As stated above, the 49ers have had one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL through the first two weeks. In my opinion, this will play a major role in this matchup.

The problem for the 49ers is that they might not have a healthy running back because they lost Raheem Mostert for the season already. In addition, Mitchell, JaMycal Hasty, and Trey Sermon were also injured during the Week 2 game against the Eagles.

Hasty will be out for a while, but the injury report currently has Mitchell and Sermon as questionable for next week’s game.

I believe that if Mitchell is healthy enough to play next week, the 49ers could score 30+ points with their balanced attack.
