Every week there are football spreads where the favorites seem overwhelmingly likely to cover it, no matter how large.
Inevitably, NFL betting lines for NFL Week 13 came out, and there are matchups where the spread seems tighter than it should be.
With 14 games slated for the opening week of December, let’s take a look at some of the favorites that should blow by the spread.
Arizona Cardinals -7.5
The Cardinals opened as 7.5-point favorites on the road against Chicago this Sunday. That seems a bit lenient to me.
Without QB Kyler Murray, the team managed to go 2-1. The two victories were both on the road against division opponents and by double digits.
In those three games, they averaged 21.3 points per game, including 31 against San Fransisco. That average is higher than the Bears’ on the season, and 31 is more than Chicago has scored in a single game.
The Bears offense is 29th in points per game and dead last passing the ball. They struggle to hit the 20 point threshold, while the Cardinals have allowed the fourth-fewest points per game.
Chicago’s defense may be able to keep it tight, but at some point, they’ll get tired, and the Cardinals should be able to pull away with ease.
Los Angeles Rams -12.5
Yes, Los Angeles has lost three games in a row. Yes, they’re opening Week 13 as double-digit favorites, a high point spread for any NFL game.
I think the Rams should be able to beat the Jaguars by at least 20.
This game will be their first home game since November 7th and an opportunity to get back on track. Expect them to take advantage of it.
Further, they’ve played five games against teams currently under .500. They won three of those games by double-digits (margins of 20, 27, and 16), while the other two were both by nine points.
Meanwhile, six of the Jags 11 games so far have ended in Jacksonville losing by double-digits.
The spread for the Rams is currently at -12.5, and I think that they’ll end up winning by more.
Philadelphia Eagles -6.5
Like, the Rams, the Eagles are going to be trying to bounce back from a loss. Luckily, they’ll be in Metlife Stadium for the second straight week, this time against the Jets.
Last Sunday, against the Giants, the offense was uncharacteristically sloppy. They turned the ball over four times, and critical drops doomed them. As a result, they only managed to score seven points despite averaging 25.3 per game.
This week, Philadelphia takes its league-best rushing attack against a Jets squad that allows the sixth-most yards on the ground a game.
On paper, this Eagles team is better offensively and defensively than the Jets. They’re also 5-0 against the Jets in the last five meetings. I think the Eagles should control this game from the opening whistle and win by more than the current 6.5 point spread.
Other Week 13 Football Spreads
Those are just three of the 14 football spreads to consider for the NFL’s Week 13. Other options that intrigued me included the Raiders (-2.5) over the Washington Football Team and the Cowboys (-4.5) over the Saints.
