NFL Week 7

In Week 7, the Indianapolis Colts (2-4) will face the San Francisco 49ers (2-3) on Sunday Night Football. The latest NFL betting odds have the Colts as a four-point underdog.

Can Carson Wentz and the Colts cover the spread on the road in San Francisco?

Let’s take a closer look.

Week 7: Indianapolis Colts Are 2-4

The Colts have had a tough start to their season at 2-4. After losing in overtime by blowing a 19-point lead on the road against the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 5 on Monday Night Football, they hosted the Houston Texans.

The Colts had an above-average performance against the Texans. Wentz only completed a little more than 50% of his passes, but he threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, connecting with seven different receivers.

Jonathan Taylor, however, stole the show. He ran the ball 14 times for 145 yards and two rushing scores, averaging over ten yards-per-carry.

The Colts’ defense had two interceptions, and although the Texans amassed 353 yards, they were unable to score a touchdown.

The Colts won, 31-3. It was a game Indy should have won convincingly, and they did, which shows that maybe things are turning around for them in 2021.

In Week 7, the 49ers will be coming off a bye week. Do the Indianapolis Colts stack up well enough against the 49ers to cover the spread?

Colts vs. 49ers

The 49ers suffered a huge loss when starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo got injured in Week 4. Trey Lance, their first-round draft pick, started against the Arizona Cardinals. After the game, it was revealed he’d sprained his knee.

So, the 49ers had a Bye week at the perfect time. As the week progresses, it should be a little more certain about who will be starting at quarterback for the 49ers this Sunday night.

If Garoppolo gets the start, it could be a challenging game for the Colts’ defense. Pay attention this week to see how the line moves.

The Colts have a lot of momentum that’s only beginning to build. I think they can cover at four points. But their defense will have to step up against a 49ers team that is dangerous in the red zone.

The Colts are used to close games, especially in prime-time matchups so far this season. So you might want to get those wagers in early in case the line moves too much.

The current line shows that there’s still a bit of uncertainty surrounding the 49ers, who went into their Bye week on a three-game losing streak. I’d even be comfortable with the Colts at +3.5.

Watch out that this line doesn’t drop to +2.5.

Some games in the NFL require early wagers as a hedge against moving lines throughout the rest of the week. This is going to be one of those matchups.
