The college football bowl season has arrived, and this weekend, the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl will take place. According to BetMGM’s NCAAF betting odds, Oregon State is a 7.5-point favorite in this bowl game.

Will Oregon State cover the spread in this inaugural LA Bowl? Here are some of the best bets for this matchup.

Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl Game Information

Before we get started on bets for this game, here is what you need to know:

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 18th
  • Time: 7:30 P.M. EST
  • Venue: SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA
  • Participants: Oregon State and Utah State

Utah State +7.5 (-110)

The first bet I like in this game is for Utah State to cover the spread. They are tied for the tenth-best record against the spread at 9-4.

They have the 20th-ranked offense in the nation, averaging 450.4 total yards per game. That will be the key going up against this Oregon State offense that averages 430.5 total yards. Utah State’s offense can keep up with the Beavers.

However, what I think separates Utah State in this game is their ability to create turnovers. They are tied for the 18th most takeaways in the nation, with 22 on the season. The Beavers have had trouble taking care of the football throughout the season, tallying 16 total turnovers.

I feel that the Aggies have the offense to keep up with the Beavers and will have opportunities to create turnovers, which will create extra opportunities for themselves.

Over 67.5 (-110)

I talked above about how both of these teams have great offenses. I expect a high-scoring game that will go over the point total.

Combined, these teams average about 66 points per game and are two of the top 35 highest-scoring offenses in the country.

If that was not enough, neither of these defenses are excellent at limiting points. While Utah State can cause turnovers, they still allow 25.3 points per game (58th). Oregon State allows 25.9 points per game (65th).

In total yards, Oregon State’s defense allows an average of 387.8 per game (76th). Utah State ranks 78th in yards allowed per game with 391.

I like the chances of this game going over.

Utah State ML (+240)

I think the Utah State money line is worth considering in this game because of the value it gives bettors.

Oregon State has faced two Pac-12 offenses that average over 30 points per game in Utah and Oregon. They gave up 72 combined points in those games. Utah State ranks 15 places higher than Oregon and 11 places lower than Utah in points per game.

With that in mind, I think Utah State’s offense gives them enough of a chance to win this game outright to make this money line attractive.
