Los Angeles Rams: How Many Points Can They Score Against the Packers?

Things haven’t gone as planned for the Los Angeles Rams since they went all-in with their recent acquisitions of Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. After starting the season 7-1, the Rams have lost two straight. In all fairness, Miller was inactive in the first game, and Beckham Jr. hadn’t yet arrived when the Titans trounced them.

But both Miller and Beckham Jr. played last week in an uninspiring loss to the 49ers. Sports betting lines have the Rams as +1 underdogs against the Packers this week. Can Matthew Stafford and the Rams bounce back with a solid performance in Week 12 against the Packers?

Recent Scoring Trends

A couple of weeks ago, it looked like the Los Angeles Rams offense couldn’t be stopped. Matthew Stafford was playing the best football of his career, Roberts Woods was finding his form, the defense was playing solid, and Cooper Kupp was piling up receptions at a record clip.

While Kupp’s receptions have remained a constant, not much else has. Stafford has struggled the last two games, Woods is lost to injury, and the defense gave up 31 points last week to the 49ers. The Rams have put up just 26 points in the previous two games after combining for 104 during the previous three before that.

Stafford averaged 268.5 yards passing in the last two games to go with two TDs and four interceptions. The bye week should have helped acclimate Odell Beckham Jr. with the playbook, and the Rams will need him to step up in the absence of Robert Woods.

Expect Stafford To Have a Bounce Back Game

Matthew Stafford had been excellent up until the recent two-game slide, and he’s too good of a quarterback in too good of a system not to bounce back soon.

Even after their recent slump, the Rams are still the 7th highest-scoring team in the league at 27.1 points per game. Stafford has averaged 301 yards through the air to go with 24 TDs and eight picks, and the Rams are putting up 387.2 total yards per game.

Rams vs. Packers

The Rams have only faced the Packers twice since relocating to Los Angeles, with each team securing a win. Matthew Stafford is 7-13 in his career against Green Bay, but keep in mind that Stafford was in Detroit for most of those games.

After a seven-game winning streak, the Packers have lost two of three, including a disappointing loss to division rival Minnesota last weekend. While the Packers’ defense has been solid this year, allowing just 19.5 points per game, they showed last week that they are susceptible to the big play when Justin Jefferson tore them up for 169 yards and two touchdowns.

The Rams will look to get the ball to Cooper Kupp early and often and replicate the game plan that Minnesota was successful with.

Can the Los Angeles Rams Silence the Critics This Week?

I’m expecting Sean McVay to have his troops ready for battle this week and feel the Rams will have one of their best games of the year.

Aaron Rodgers will have something to say about it, and I think we’ll see a shootout and a close Rams victory. I believe that the Rams are an excellent choice for this week’s King of the Weekend Promo.
