The Los Angeles Rams gave up two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and quarterback Jared Goff in exchange for a quarterback that they believed could lead them to a Super Bowl. That quarterback is Matthew Stafford, and so far, things have gone according to plan. Stafford has been a great fit in LA, and after a terrific first season with the club, he now finds himself one win away from leading them to the Super Bowl.

But first, he’ll have to get past the San Francisco 49ers, a team that he’s already lost to twice this season. The current football betting odds have the Rams as 3.5-point favorites at home. Will Stafford and Los Angeles continue to roll this week, or will the 49ers complete a three-game sweep? Let’s dive in.

  • Who: 49ers at Rams
  • When: Sunday, Jan. 30th
  • Time: 6:30 p.m. EST
  • Venue: SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA

Matthew Stafford Stats

There’s no arguing that Matthew Stafford had an excellent debut season as a Ram. After winning seven of his first eight games with the Rams, Stafford was in the MVP discussion.

While Stafford and his team lost three straight games after starting the season hot, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback still put up great numbers, throwing for 4886 yards to go with 41 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He’s continued his strong play into the postseason, tossing 568 yards through two games with four TDs and no interceptions.

Rams Moneyline (-190)

The 49ers have owned the Rams in recent years. After a wild comeback in Week 18 led by Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco completed the season sweep and toppled the Rams for the sixth straight time.

But the 49ers’ offense has been anemic this postseason, and their two victories are largely owed to the defense and special teams. Garoppolo has thrown for just 303 yards in two games with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s going to have to do a lot more than that to keep this game close, regardless of how well his defense plays.

Meanwhile, the Rams have looked sensational in their two playoff games on both sides of the ball. The offense has scored 64 points in two games, while the defense has given up just 38 points, forcing four turnovers and racking up five sacks.

I expect a close game in this one, much like the overtime game in Week 18 these two teams played; however, I see the Rams prevailing this time.

Who Will Advance to the Super Bowl?

Will Matthew Stafford finally make it to the Super Bowl this year? If the Rams win, they won’t have to travel far because this year’s Super Bowl will be played at SoFi Stadium.
