Spring training is nearly a month away, and every MLB fan is eager to catch their favorite team in action in 2021. The start of the season leads us to the question of payroll and the amount of money each franchise is paying out this year.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are at the top of the list by a significant margin at nearly $195 million. The defending champions are positioned nicely in baseball odds to potentially run it back for a second consecutive year.

The Cleveland Indians have the lowest payroll in the MLB at $23.5 million thanks to their trade of Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco. The Indians set out to shed their payroll costs this past year, and the contracts of Lindor and Carrasco played a significant role in getting that salary off of their books.

Every team in the MLB faced a significant drop in team payroll from 2020 to 2021, with an average of close to $31 million due to a decrease in revenue. The league average for total payroll for 2021 is $104,385,000.

Let’s take a look at the payroll numbers of each MLB team headed into 2021 to help you with your online betting knowledge. These numbers come from each players’ salary, signing bonus, and incentives listed via the MLB.
