- Los Angeles is -220 to win Tuesday’s Game 4.
Coming off the longest game in World Series history, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays will have a tough act to follow when they meet in Game 4 of the World Series at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium on FOX.
Monday’s 18-inning thriller matched Game 3 of the 2018 Fall Classic for the longest contest in World Series history. Shohei Ohtani hit two home runs and a pair of doubles, becoming the first player in postseason history to reach base nine times. Oh, and he will pitch in tonight’s Game 4.
The marathon ended with a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman, lifting the Dodgers to a 6-5 victory to give them a 2-1 series lead.
Los Angeles is favored to win tonight’s game with Ohtani on the mound. He threw six scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts in his last start, while also adding a trio of home runs as a batter. The Blue Jays will counter with Shane Bieber on the bump.
Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Prediction for Game 4
- Over 8 (-110)
Based on the updated MLB betting lines, I’m riding with the over on the full-game total (eight) for my favorite Blue Jays vs. Dodgers prediction in Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday.
I’m expecting more fireworks in the World Series, especially after two below-average bullpens were overworked on Monday night. Neither starter completed five innings, prompting both managers to empty their bullpens. There were 17 relievers used on Monday.
Even with excellent starting pitching in the first two games, this series has featured plenty of offense. There were 15 runs scored in Game 1 to clear the closing total of 7.5, and six runs to finish below the same closing number in Game 2.
The market steamed the total to as high as 8.5 on Monday, which proved to be the correct move as it was cleared by the seventh inning.
While I expect Tuesday’s starters to have a bit more success, it’s clear that neither of these lineups can be held in check for too long.
During the regular season, the Dodgers scored the second-most runs in the league and ranked second in wRC+. The Blue Jays were fourth in the majors in both metrics. In the postseason, both teams have ranked in the top two in wRC+ by a comfortable margin.
In addition, the forecast is favorable on Tuesday. The temperature could be in the high 80s after being in the low 70s on Monday, suggesting the ball might carry a bit more in Game 4. Ballpark Pal’s model projects a 16% increase in potential home runs.
I like the over as my Blue Jays vs. Dodgers prediction for Game 4.
Prediction: Over 8 (-110)
Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Odds: Tuesday, Oct. 28
