Blue Jays vs. Dodgers Prediction: Game 5 World Series Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays will clash for a third time in as many days during a pivotal Game 5 of the World Series at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium on FOX.

After 18 innings in Monday’s Game 3, only nine frames were needed for the Blue Jays to even the series in Tuesday’s Game 4.

The Blue Jays secured a 6-2 win over the Dodgers, thanks to a four-run outburst in the seventh inning to break things open. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also hit a two-run homer in the third inning.

Los Angeles is favored to reclaim the series lead in Game 5.

The Dodgers will send Blake Snell to the mound, while the Blue Jays will counter with rookie Trey Yesavage in a pitching rematch from Game 1. Snell allowed five runs on eight hits in the loss, whereas Yesavage pitched four innings of two-run ball.

• Trey Yesavage over 3.5 hits allowed

Based on the updated MLB betting lines, I like the over on Yesavage’s hits allowed prop (3.5) as my favorite Blue Jays vs. Dodgers prediction for Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday.

When I first posted this preview on Tuesday night, I made the case for the over on 3.5 runs scored by the Dodgers. However, that line is now -200 and I’m less interested in the -110 price tag on over 4.5 runs.

Fortunately, the logic for Los Angeles’ team total and Yesavage’s hits allowed prop is similar.

The Dodgers are in a favorable spot, getting a second look at Yesavage in six days.

Because of Yesavage’s rapid rise after starting the season in Double-A, there isn’t as much information on him. He only made three regular-season starts.

The Dodgers tried to get a sense of his release from his 6-foot-4 frame using their Trajekt machine, but it’s another thing to see him in person. I think they will have better results in the rematch, especially since this will be Yesavage’s first road start in the postseason.

In addition, the forecast is once again favorable for hitters on Wednesday. The temperature will be in the high 80s around first pitch, which could help the ball carry a bit more.

Ballpark Pal’s model projects that Yesavage will allow 4.34 hits in 4.63 innings. His earned runs allowed prop is 2.5, but I prefer the hits market as there is a chance the Blue Jays might pull him earlier than expected.
