Blue Jays vs. Mariners Prediction: Game 5 ALCS Preview

  • Get MLB picks and analysis for Blue Jays vs. Mariners.
  • Seattle is -110 to win the ALCS.

The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays will face off in a pivotal Game 5 of the ALCS at 6:08 p.m. ET on Friday at T-Mobile Park on FS1.

The road team has won all four games in this series. Seattle took a 2-0 lead with a pair of wins in Toronto. The Blue Jays responded with back-to-back victories in T-Mobile Park the last two nights.

With the series tied 2-2, the betting odds suggest this is a coin-flip matchup at this point. Both teams are -110 to win Game 5 and -110 to claim the pennant.

Blue Jays vs. Mariners Prediction for Game 5

  • Bryce Miller under 2.5 strikeouts

My favorite Blue Jays vs. Mariners prediction is the under on Bryce Millerโ€™s strikeouts prop (2.5) in Game 5 of the ALCS on Friday at T-Mobile Park.

This is a low number, but allow me to explain why the under is still the right side.

For one, the Blue Jays had the lowest strikeout rate (17.8%) in the majors this season. Seattleโ€™s starting rotation has learned that through four games, recording a total of 10 strikeouts and having just two pitchers clear this line of 2.5 whiffs.

Miller was one of the two to get over this number, recording three strikeouts in six innings during Game 1. But a big reason why I like this under is because I donโ€™t expect him to go as deep into this game.

Not only is this Torontoโ€™s second look at Miller this series, but Seattle desperately needed length from him in the opener. The Mariners were coming off a 15-inning thriller in Game 5 of the ALDS and didnโ€™t have as many viable options in the bullpen.

With the series tied at 2-2 and an off day tomorrow, I expect both teams to be aggressive with their bullpens. Millerโ€™s outs prop of 11.5 suggests he might not last four innings.

If thatโ€™s the case, Miller will have a difficult time recording three strikeouts against a team that doesnโ€™t chase.

Prediction: Bryce Miller under 2.5 strikeouts (+100)
