Brewers vs. Cubs Prediction: Game 3 NLDS Preview

The Chicago Cubs will face elimination when they host the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the NLDS at 5:08 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Wrigley Field on TBS.

The Brewers rolled to a 2-0 lead in this best-of-five series. They earned a 9-3 win in Saturday’s Game 1 and a 7-3 victory in Monday’s Game 2. The last time Milwaukee won a playoff series was in 2018.

Chicago is favored to keep its season alive, as Jameson Taillon (11-7, 3.68 ERA) will get the start on Wednesday. The Brewers will counter with Quinn Priester (13-3, 3.32 ERA) on the mound.

According to the initial MLB betting lines, I like the under (seven total runs) as my favorite Brewers vs. Cubs prediction for Game 3 of the NLDS.

There is a good chance that the bats cool off, with the weather being a factor in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon. Ballpark Pal’s model projects a 30% decrease in potential runs and a 48% decrease in potential home runs due to the wind.

Thanks to a projection of 6.2 runs, the under is my preferred play for this matchup. Both teams have a total of 3.5 as an alternative way to bet on a low-scoring matchup.

In addition, there is reason to believe in both starters in this matchup.

Taillon tossed four scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres during the NL Wild Card series. He’s allowed one run or fewer in four straight starts.

Priester has given up two runs or fewer in six of his past seven outings. That stretch includes a road start against the Cubs, in which he held them to one run on three hits across 4 1/3 innings on Aug. 21.

Given the way the NLDS schedule was set up, with an off day for the first three games, both bullpens should be at full strength in a pivotal matchup.
