The Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Cubs will compete for a spot in the NLCS when they face off in Game 5 of the NLDS. First pitch is 8:08 p.m. ET on Saturday at American Family Field on TBS.
The Cubs won back-to-back games at home to force a winner-take-all showdown on Saturday. They hope to become the 11th team to erase a 2-0 deficit in a best-of-five series and first since the New York Yankees accomplished the feat in the 2017 ALDS.
Milwaukee, meanwhile, is aiming for its first postseason series win since 2018.
Hereโs a look at the latest MLB odds and my Cubs vs. Brewers prediction ahead of Game 5:

Cubs vs. Brewers Prediction for Game 5
According to the initial MLB betting lines, I like the over on the full-game total (7.5) as my favorite Cubs vs. Brewers prediction for Game 5 of the NLDS. I also like the +110 odds of a run being scored in the first inning.
As of this writing, neither team has announced a starting pitcher. However, Iโm using some context with this pick based on who is and isnโt available to take the mound.
For one, the Brewers wonโt be able to give the ball to their best pitcher. Freddy Peralta started in Game 4, pitching four innings in Thursdayโs loss. There is a chance the Brewers will opt for a bullpen game to punch their ticket to the NLCS.
On the other side, Chicagoโs Shลta Imanaga is the most likely starter after getting the ball in Game 2. He gave up four runs on five hits across 2 2/3 innings in a 7-3 defeat.
The reason the starters matter is that both teams have excelled at scoring early runs in this series.
Milwaukee scored all nine of its runs in the first two innings of Game 1 before following that up by scoring all seven of its runs in the first four frames of Game 2. Chicago scored all four of its runs in the opening frame of Game 3, while recording three of its six runs in the first inning of Game 4.
Between both teams, there has been an average of 5.25 runs scored in the first inning of this NLDS.
As a result, I like the idea of a plus-money YRFI price and the full-game over for my favorite Cubs vs. Brewers predictions in Game 5 of the NLDS.
Prediction: Over 7.5 (-102) & YRFI (+110)
