- Get MLB picks and analysis for Dodgers vs. Blue Jays.
- Los Angeles is -140 to win Friday’s Game 6.
The Toronto Blue Jays are one win away from knocking off the defending champions when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 8 p.m. ET on Friday at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on FOX.
Toronto took a 3-2 series lead with a 6-1 win in Game 5. Trey Yesavage whiffed 12 batters across seven innings of one-run ball. Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning.
With their season on the line, the Dodgers will give the ball to Yoshinobu Yamamoto. There is nobody Los Angeles would trust more to stave off elimination right now, as Yamamoto has pitched consecutive complete games and allowed two runs on seven hits over that span.
Kevin Gausman will get the nod for the Blue Jays in Friday’s Game 6.
Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Prediction for Game 6
- Dodgers moneyline (-140)
Based on the updated MLB betting lines, I expect Los Angeles to win for my favorite Blue Jays vs. Dodgers prediction in Friday’s Game 6.
The Blue Jays have to feel good about their chances of winning at least one of the next two at home, but the Dodgers are certainly comfortable with counting on Yamamoto to keep their season alive.
Yamamoto, who went 12-8 with a 2.49 ERA in 30 regular-season starts, has been even more elite in the postseason. He’s made four starts during this playoff run, allowing five earned runs in 28 2/3 innings of work. He’s struck out 26 batters and walked four.
In Game 2 of the World Series (in Toronto), Yamamoto held the Blue Jays to one run on four hits in a complete game. He whiffed eight batters and walked none. At one point during an 18-inning thriller in Game 3, Yamamoto volunteered to pitch if the game got to the 19th inning.
Basically, Yamamoto is someone I’m interested in backing in an elimination game. The Blue Jays must hope to get to him early and force the Dodgers to use their bullpen sooner than they would like.
It’s worth noting that Los Angeles has been in this position before. The Dodgers faced elimination twice during last year’s World Series run, with both times coming in the NLDS against the San Diego Padres.
Down 2-1 in last year’s NLDS, the Dodgers earned an 8-0 road win in Game 4 before closing out the series with a 2-0 victory in Game 5.
I’ll back Los Angeles to force a Game 7.
Prediction: Dodgers moneyline (-140)
Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Odds: Friday, Oct. 31
- Dodgers moneyline: -140
- Blue Jays moneyline: +120
- Total: 7.5
