Dodgers vs. Cubs Prediction for Game 2 of the Tokyo Series

Based on the latest MLB odds, my Dodgers vs. Cubs prediction for Game 2 of the Tokyo Series is under (8.5) runs on Wednesday.

After Mookie Betts was announced out for the Tokyo Series, the total for Game 1 moved from 8.5 down to 7.5 before settling at eight. The under for Game 2 is now priced at -115 after being -105 when the market opened.

However, if the total for the opener was any indication, I expect that line to move ahead of Wednesday’s first pitch. Ballpark Pal’s model projects a 4.13-3.29 win for Los Angeles, suggesting a low-scoring affair.

The Dodgers don’t have as much offensive firepower without Betts, but there is also some sneaky pitching upside in Game 2.

Sasaki, the NL Rookie of the Year odds favorite, will make his MLB debut in his home country. The Japanese right-hander posted a 2.10 ERA and 505 strikeouts in 394 2/3 innings across four NPB seasons. His stuff should play right away in the majors.

Steele had a tough outing in his final spring start, giving up a pair of home runs to the Milwaukee Brewers. Yet he projects to have the best ERA (3.46) in Chicago’s rotation this year by ZiPS, suggesting he’s worth backing in this matchup.
