Dodgers vs. Phillies Prediction: Game 2 NLDS Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies hope to even the series in Game 2 of the NLDS when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 6:08 p.m. ET on Monday at Citizens Bank Park on TBS.

Teoscar Hernández hit a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning of the Dodgers’ 5-3 victory over the Phillies in Saturday’s Game 1. Los Angeles is now in a favorable position, as the winner of Game 1 has won the series 72.4% of the time in a best-of-five matchup.

The Dodgers will give the ball to Blake Snell (5-4, 2.35 ERA) on Monday, while the Phillies will counter with Jesús Luzardo (15-7, 3.92 ERA) on the mound.

My favorite Dodgers vs. Phillies prediction is the over (7.5) for Game 2 of the NLDS on Monday.

As Saturday proved, there are too many talented hitters in this game to keep either team down for long. Even in a game featuring a pitching matchup between Shohei Ohtani and Christopher Sánchez, the over came through on a closing total of seven.

Monday’s starters are also excellent, but there is some volatility. Snell averaged just over 5.5 innings per start during the regular season, meaning the Dodgers’ bullpen (4.27 ERA) could get involved earlier than usual.

Luzardo, meanwhile, coughed up four runs in a start against the Dodgers on Sept. 17. He’s allowed 10 runs over his past three outings.

THE BAT X’s model projects closer to nine runs in Game 2. Ballpark Pal’s model doesn’t project as high a total, but it does expect a 14% increase in potential home runs, a promising sign for some powerful hitters.

I’d like this over at 7.5 or better.
