The Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners will begin their ALCS matchup with Game 1 at 8:03 p.m. ET on Sunday at the Rogers Centre on FOX.
The Blue Jays, who haven’t played since Wednesday following their 3-1 series win over the New York Yankees, enter as sizable favorites to win the opener. They have the rest and pitching advantage, with Kevin Gausman (10-11, 3.59 ERA) slated to start Game 1.
Seattle is coming off the longest winner-take-all postseason game in MLB history, needing 15 innings to defeat the Detroit Tigers on Friday. Bryce Miller (4-6, 5.68 ERA) will get the nod for the Mariners on Sunday.

My favorite Mariners vs. Blue Jays prediction is the over on Toronto’s team total (4.5) for Game 1 of the ALCS on Sunday.
The Blue Jays scored 34 runs during the ALDS, averaging 8.5 runs per game. They are in a favorable position to maintain that offensive rhythm on Sunday against a taxed Seattle pitching staff.
Seattle used seven pitchers in Friday’s 15-inning thriller, including starters Logan Gilbert and Luis Castillo. It was all hands on deck to help the Mariners reach the ALCS for the first time since 2001, but there is a good chance that they feel the ramifications from that to start this series.
That certainly matters in this spot because Miller (the only healthy starter to not pitch on Friday) has only completed six innings in one start this year. He lasted 4 1/3 innings in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Tigers.
I project close to five runs for the Blue Jays on Sunday, as they should eventually take advantage of a depleted Mariners staff. That’s why I like the plus-money price on Toronto’s team total in Game 1.
