Mets Win Total Prediction 2026

  • Wait for an in-season over

When the Mets have an MLB betting win total this low, it’s tempting to take the under.

Since 2007, the Mets have only had one season in which they won more than 90 games. They went 101-61 in 2022, but have followed that up by missing the playoffs in two of the past three years.

The Mets have had a win total of 90.5 or higher three times in the 2020s, finishing under their preseason mark all three times. That includes last year’s 83-79 finish after having a preseason total of 90.5.

New York completely overhauled its roster in the offseason to build a better culture. I actually like a lot of the Mets’ moves.

The Mets added four new players in their lineup, signing Bo Bichette and Jorge Polanco while trading for Marcus Semien and Luis Robert Jr. They also traded for Freddy Peralta to be their No. 1 starter, while reshaping the back end of their bullpen by signing Devin Williams and Luke Weaver in free agency.

In many ways, this is a brand-new team, one that projects really well. According to RosterResource, the Mets have the fourth-highest total projected WAR for the upcoming season, trailing the three teams that have appeared in the past two World Series.

Still, I can’t help but think there will be an adjustment period, especially with multiple players learning new defensive positions. I’d rather wait to see if the Mets’ in-season win total drops into the 80s following a potential slow start.

FanGraphs’ playoff odds currently project New York to win 89.5 games and compete for the NL East title.
