Phillies vs. Dodgers Prediction: Game 3 NLDS Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers can advance to the next round when they host the Philadelphia Phillies for Game 3 of the NLDS at 8:08 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium on TBS.

Los Angeles earned a 5-3 win in Game 1 on Saturday, thanks to a three-run home run by Teoscar Hernández. The Dodgers then held off the Phillies in a frantic ninth inning of their 4-3 win in Monday’s Game 2.

With the series headed to Los Angeles, the Dodgers are sizable favorites to finish the job on Wednesday.

Here’s a look at the latest MLB odds and my Phillies vs. Dodgers prediction ahead of Game 3:

Phillies vs. Dodgers Prediction for Game 3

My favorite Phillies vs. Dodgers prediction is the under (eight total runs) for Game 3 of the NLDS on Wednesday.

It can be scary to take an under in a game featuring these two lineups, but allow me to make the argument.

Ballpark Pal’s model projects 7.4 runs, which is why I like this under as long as the total is trading at eight runs.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto will get the ball for the Dodgers in Game 3. He has a 12-8 record with a 2.49 ERA in 30 starts, striking out 201 batters in 173 2/3 innings.

Yamamoto didn’t allow an earned run across 6 2/3 innings during his start in the NL Wild Card. It came after he pitched two scoreless outings to close out the regular season. Now he faces a Phillies lineup that hasn’t gotten much from its best players in this series.

Aaron Nola (5-10, 6.01 ERA) will get the start for the Phillies, but I expect them to be aggressive with their bullpen usage in an elimination game. Starter Ranger Suárez (12-8, 3.20 ERA) is available behind Nola.

If this line drops to 7.5, I’d prefer the Phillies’ team total (3.5) instead for Game 3.
