Phillies vs. Twins Prediction: Field of Dreams Game Preview

The Field of Dreams game is back for the first time in four years. The third installment of this signature event will pit the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins against each other.

Phillies vs. Twins Prediction for Aug. 13

• Twins moneyline (-110)

I like Minnesota to win outright as my favorite Phillies vs. Twins prediction for this year’s Field of Dreams game.

With Aaron Nola getting the start for the Phillies, the Twins should be able to start strong. Nola is 3-9 with a 5.47 ERA in 24 starts this season, allowing multiple runs in all but two of his outings.

Minnesota will counter with Taj Bradley, who is 9-4 with a 3.76 ERA in 23 starts. He has a whiff rate of 28.8% against left-handed hitters, which bodes well in this matchup since the Phillies have a lefty lineup.

Philadelphia has fallen out of the National League playoff picture after losing back-to-back games. The Phillies have a -7 run differential on the year, suggesting they are not on the same level as many of the top contenders in the NL.

The Twins are also out of the American League playoff picture, trailing the final spot by a half-game. However, the AL is much more open.

In a matchup between two playoff hopefuls, I prefer backing the Twins at -115 or better.
